So we just got back from the consulate in Montreal. As it turns out, the only way to do it is through someone in Korea (in this case a family member).

I was wondering how your wife was able to get her criminal record through email. At the consulate they asked her to fill out some forms to allow her family member to get her police report.
When preparing our PR app, my wife emailed her sister (who lives in Korea) a simple letter giving her authorization to pick up the police report on her behalf, her sister picked it up no problem at a local police office, then her sister mailed it to us in Canada to include in the app. Or the family member in Korea could just mail it directly to Manila.

Strange. My wife has done it the power of attorney way through the Korean consulate in Toronto several times, as recently as January this year.

We just got an email asking us to fill out Appendix A (the day after our e-cas changed to In Progress).

Hopefully Manila wants to close our dossier as quickly as possible to bring the average down (cuz our file ain't helping it).

I have a question about the Appendix A.

My spouse has no children. So obviously we leave those columns empty. For the spouse-common law column, do we put my information down? It seems weird to me.

Yes. Your wife is the applicant and you are the spouse/common law partner.

Hello All,

2 things.

1) We got the DHL package today from Manilla and my wife has been approved for her PR! We are very excited and making plans to do the boarder run. This group has been incredibly helpful and I would like to thank all those who took a second and helped answer my questions. You guys are awesome!

2) A little while ago I recommended the shipping company that we used to send our stuff to Canada. I might have to take that back, as we are having some troubles with them now. Our stuff arrived in Toronto this week, and I went to Pearson to claim the stuff customs. The company added an extra 30 boxes to our shipping list. They tried to say that they do this all the time, and it's no big deal. I told them that I was not interested in claiming 30 boxes, when I didn't know exactly what was in them. We are in to process of figuring it all out now, and I will update you guys again, once it is resolved. Basically, I think that they are trying to get stuff into Canada for Korean families Duty Free...... it's a shame, because they have been absolutely fantastic up to this point.

Congrats red tape sucks!

1. How long from Decision Made to getting your COPR in the mail?

2. We went with Onnury Green as well. I've went through customs with B4 forms and my own list, stamped and approved by customs, as they didn't show up before I left (wife in Korea now when movers came). They assured us that we won't have to clear customs in Vancouver and the shippers will just send it to my place (4 hours inland)

Let me know how it goes with them tacking on extra random stuff to your order as my wife is still in Korea now so maybe she can prevent this by getting extra documentation from
Them while she is still there!

Thank you!

We got the B4 form done at the airport as well. I believe that your stuff still needs to be cleared from customs. You will have to go in and answer a few questions about the stuff. I needed to bring the B4, my passport, proof that I had been out of the country (I printed my proof of employment from my uni) and proof of address in Canada (I brought my car ownership and insurance slips). I am not sure why they told you that, unless your stuff is being brought in like the "extras" on my shipping documents.

Our shipping form that has the B4 attached to it has 34 boxes on it, and the one that the guy showed up with at customs today had 64 boxes, so almost double. He said that I should just tell them that the stuff got re-boxed.... haha

The Toronto office is supposed to call us tomorrow and I will update you once I find out more.

Good to know. Thanks for the info red tape sucks

A Canadian customs official told me when I checked in my goods to follow in Vancouver that it will be shipped directly to its final destination. He could have been just blowing smoke up my you know where though haha

How long did it take exactly for you from movers packing up your things to you getting a call from customs at the airport? Onnury assured us it will take 35 days, just wanted to see if that was actually a legit estimation?

Thanks for all your updates, it really helps me try to balance out my life here!

No worries!

They came to our house on June 12 to pack everything up and yesterday August 12 was the first day that we could go to the airport to claim our stuff. But that is coming to Toronto, not Vancouver. I think that they said our stuff arrived in Vancouver about 2 weeks ago.

I'm a little confused. How did this second B4 form with a list of 64 boxes come into existence? The list that was attached to the B4 form that you had stamped in Vancouver is the only list you should be presenting at Pearson when you clear customs in Toronto. Otherwise you are claiming another 30 boxes of imported goods as your own, without any idea what's in them. That doesn't sound like a real good idea.

I mean the guy is probably right, they are probably just trying to skirt the customs rules but what if the other 30 boxes contained contraband, drugs, weapons etc.? It's all being imported in your name. You'd have some pretty serious explaining to do. I'd tell them that you're only going to clear the boxes you shipped and that they should take care of clearing the balance, since it's not yours.

I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. I also had to go out to Pearson and clear customs when our shipment arrived.

Hey Bart,

This is why there is problem. I told them that I would only clear my boxes and now our stuff is sitting in customs. There was no way I was going to clear the other 30 boxes! There is no second B4 form, only a second shipping list with the extra 30 boxes.

They are supposed to contact us today and get things cleared up..... hopefully

I think I understand. They're asking you to swap out your original list of 30 boxes for their list of 64. Is that correct?

If that's the case, I guess my original advice stands. I'd tell them this. What they are asking you to do is an offence under the Customs Act punishable by a fine and jail time. If they want to smuggle things into the country that's their business. They shouldn't be asking you to assist them.
