Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

Been a while since I posted on here, and since many of our spouses arrived in Canada, was just curious to see how have your spouses adjusted to life in Canada. My wife has done well, I think, within a month of getting her PR, she started working and is very happy here.

Tell your MP to get off their fat ass and do you want tell them to do, I once yell at my MP rep. Hell, I had my MP look into my file once a month! Even once they contacted the VO directly and got my GMSC notes. Call their office and make an appointment FOR BOTH OF YOU, you both will have to...

Just from that it sounds like you got a useless one. hopefully they turn out to be helpful, but I have my doubts.

You can also contact your MP, and after signing the necessary forms, tell them to contact your VO directly. I got mine to do that and he went over my GCMS notes with me and it didn't cost me anything. When the contact Mississauga, usually they get an answer in 2 or 3 days and the report they...

Will it be an Issue if I visit my Spouse in Canada on a tourist Visa

My wife (from Korea) stayed with me in Canada until she received her PR. Altogether she lived her for about 17 months (legally, btw) on her tourist VISA. Just be upfront and honest at the boarder and state that you understand that you will have to do your landing when you get the COPR.

Other issues could be: 1. police check was too old. (it has to be done within 3 months of CIC receiving the application) 2. translations were not done correctly

Did your police check include 'lapsed records'? That seems to be where CIC had their issues with everyone else's police check. Myself, Bartjones and K2C all had to redo our checks because of this. Apparently the police office in Korea will not check for this unless specifically ordered to do...

I had everything all at once, then had to pay an extra $300 for the 're-med.' I am sure you can pay the $500 on the CIC website where you pay everything else originaly.

This is pretty much my wife's timeline from document requests to PR: document request on March 17th 2014, we got her re-med request on January 7th 2015 Decision Made on Feb 16th 2015. Landed on March 7th, 2015

Then you are most likely months away from weeks away. When my wife had to do her 're-med' her status was "in process." She got 'decision made' about a month after doing her re-med.

Check your ECAS status, if it is at "in process" then it is not much longer.

How long from "InProcess" was a decision made?

In my wife's situation, it was about a month between in process and decision made. After that, it was about another 3 weeks before she got her COPR in the mail.

I was gone for so long that it wasn't a big issue. I just went to H and R Block and did it with them. Ended up getting 2 dollars back, woo hoo!

BTW Rob, the COPR has written on it, in huge capital letters, "not valid for travel"

Yeah, we did debate about the thing, but to be honest, it was a long day and we just decided to go home. I checked last night and it seems like we have to wait 22 calendar day to get her card, so it will probably be 30 days. Our plan is to go visit Vegas in the summer when I have some time...
