@ angeleye- I personally would treat the interview like a job interview, and would go in businesswear (dress pants/skirt & button-down shirt, possibly a jacket over it). I think you should look professional like you know what you're about. No jeans, sneakers etc.

Finally I got a reply from BIQ HK, rather a bad news and I did not make the cut... But anyway it is fine.

Here are the details for others to know. So that you can have approximate estimate.

Education - 10 ( ELectronics & communication Engineering)
age - 16
experience - 4 ( though I have more than 10 years of experience- I took a break to take care of my family business and started working for the past 2.5 years).
english - 6/6
french - 2/16( since I completed only A1 while applying , now I have A2)


Spouse (education) - 2
spouse (age ) - 3

brother in canada - 0 ( I am yet to send additional document)
Son - 4
finance - 1

Total 48,

I have to score 57 - since I need to respond within 60 days .. I already have A2 with me. So I can get 4 more points, and another 3 points for my brother in canada.

so I am running short of 2 points. With the situation unless my wife clears A1 I cannot make the cut.

However I am planning to send the required documents,, and current working last pay stub. Let me keep my fingers crossed.

You can never go wrong with being corporate or formal as you sure will look like the Skilled Worker you are. From experience my spouse and I dressed in a formal manner and it made us feel very comfortable.

I think that I am having similar situation like you.
I have master degree in chemistry (M.Sc. Applied Chemistry in year 2000), but I feel that will they consider my work exp related to my education.
If you can help me out with this situation.

I have worked from year oct-2000 till nov-2005 as Pharma Sales Representative with leading Indian Pharma cos, didnt worked from dec-2005 to mar-2006 and then from mar-2006 to May-2007 worked as Life Insurance Sales Manager. Since May 2007 till date I am working as Trainer in a Life Insurance Co.

So in this case will they award me points for my education, area of training and work exp?

As per my understanding, I can get this points
Education: 12 points for master
Work exp: 8 points (worked for all 5 years in last 5 years)
Area of Training: no points since work experience in last 5 years is not related to my education.

Am I calculating my points correct way or not? Pls help.

@ abehola: i have a masters degree in chemistry, which is in the preferred list of trainings. also i have relevant exeperince, but initially they didnt consider my exp, and didnt gave me any points for it. so they sent a letter saying that i dont score enough points. then i sent an email to them, explaining all the details and after 2 months correspondence, they finally accepted it

I understand how you feel but honestly PATIENCE is the name of the game. I know of a friend who sent his application in August 2010 and only got AOR in February 2011 then got Interview notification in March 2011 and did his interview in June 2011 after which he got the CSQ. I as well did not even get AOR at all only notification of Interview which we did in June and got the CSQ.
So my friend it all depends just relax it will come when you least expect it.

Thanks! I haven't visited and posted too much in this thread for months because I've started to lose my confidence in my application. I thought they were already closing their doors on me since I've received a letter for their intent to reject my application a couple of months ago. I hope I do have what it takes to get the proverbial cake

@ quebec2011. Thanks! I'm going to be have my interview in HK. I've been there last month on a totally unrelated trip so I've already scouted the place. HK is pretty cool! I'm a nurse by profession and I'm planning to migrate there also as a nurse. I have two degrees btw.

Yes! HK! I was there just a month ago and it was great. I swear I'd go straight to Disneyland if ever I get the CSQ after the interview! Good luck to you on your interview too!
