you should always check it out from biq website, no cic

and no it is not true

as long as you can get 16,12 or 6 out of your area of training , you can apply
I see, I did not know that the BIQ website is more resourceful. Thank You.
So they have only made it a little more harder to immigrate without stopping intake of applications all together?

That's correct. I have a reference number, but not an official application number. And on my A-0520-AF form, they put a stamp "Ministere de l'immigration et des Communautés Culturelles" with the date of application was received.
Thanks for the reply.

hello people,

I have PR now via Quebec with intention to start looking for work in Quebec mid next year since I have a contract job now in Ontario.

Based on your insights, should I land in Toronto (drive across Bufalo --> Toronto) or should I land in Montreal (Albany --> Montreal)?

Will landing in Toronto make it seem as though I dont want to settle in Quebec? Please offer your best advice!

If your PRV is as a result of the QSW process and you are not ready to settle in Quebec now then I will advise that you should delay your landing in Quebec for some time, I believe you should have about 6 months from the date of the issuance of your PRV or within one year from the date of your medical exams to complete the process by landing in Quebec. When you are finally ready to land, please make sure you re-enter Canada and land in Quebec through any port where you will have Quebec immigration officials to attend to you in order to complete your landing process. Certainly, if your are just planning to land in Canada, please make sure you land in Quebec first and process your SIN and PR card before trying to proceed to Toronto so that thing don't get complicated by landing elsewhere.

However, if it is possible to transfer your contract job to Quebec then that will make it a lot better and you can settle in Quebec as soon as possible. Here is wishing you the very best.

Cheers

Dont worry dez, if you have received the AOR, you should be ok. I think the copy of the diploma must have made a difference, but the attestation alone is no longer sufficient. When they sent me my application back they stamped the page to confirm they received it and gave me a ref. # in order to follow up when I sent application back. They also added a letter explaining that they want the original scores (diploma). I think you are ok, especially if they have not said anything.

yes, I dont see anything about 15.5, it maybe their own judgement on this one. Hopefully one of the senior can help on this.
m81,

Thanks. I'll cross my fingers. The 15.5 score seems a bit tricky. I've even asked MICC people and didn't get a straight answer, but you might be right about the judgement/discretion coz the lady I spoke to said it might come to testing my French knowledge level during the interview (assuming I'll get invited to one lol)

Btw, I'm taking Dalf C1 this Saturday. I know it's rather late in the day to make any drastic improvements now but have you got any tips? I only study privately so I have real problems with listening and speaking.

hey dez, yes at this point you must done lots of practice tests. It helps you get used to the format ant it takes out the nervousness during the test. The more comfortable you are, the best you'll perform. The oral comprehension is ok, especially if you have been listening to radio broadcast or tv news. The part where they make you listen to the tape twice is where you can get the maximum of points. The trick for me was to look at the question and use a note sheet where I would take notes (one word, a group of words, number) what I believe to be the right answer (some are pretty straight forward, so u may not even need the sheet). By doing that it also helped me when the answer had to be a set number of words or number, and this method allowed me to not focus too much on writing that answer correctly. I used the second time around to confirm my answer.

The tough part about the listening is the round when they make listen to the tape only once...no real tip on this one. U have to stay FOCUS! But if you miss a question/answer, DO NO PANIC, just go to the next one because you may miss all the questions that come afterwards. It happened to me toward the end, the dialogue was getting so long (and borred) that I lost track, and didnt know if the part I was supposed to hear had passed or not. Well it didnt, they just made it long on purpose and the answer came towards the end.

This is a tip that you may already be using from your practice, but it was quite helpful at times: Anticipate on some the questions. For some questions, you can pretty much know what they 'type' of answer may be.

For both writing parts, you dont need to focus too much on these. You can just do the minimum as quebec immigration wont look at it anyway. However, you do need a minimum score; otherwise, you can fail your entire DALF. I know it sounds weird to tell you not too put too much effort, but it was quite tiring to do the whole thing. After the writing parts, I was the first one to do the "production oral", so I pretty much did all 4 parts of the test back to back. I had quite a headache after writings lol So it's a choice for you to put effort on that or not (I repeat quebec dont look at them anyway).

For Production Oral, my 2 jurors were pretty nice. I talked to guy a little bit before it started as he asked me if the 3 first part of the test went ok for me. I told him yes, but it was quite long, but I wasn't sure about this part now. He was nice. The reason why am talking about this is because if you have the opportunity to make small talks, go ahead, especially if juror seems nice. (my opinion). I dont really have tips on this part. you have to practice, practice, when it comes to talking it's really an individual type of thing. I did try to put a couple of connector words (cependant, malgré que, etc..), but not too much coz then it's less of a 'natural' talk. Even though I was tired, the "oral production" was pretty cool because they were mostly asking question and I was trying to go on and on.

Hope this helps. tried to give you tips and and also about the whole experience. Worst case scenario, you can TFCQ, it was easier and quicker. Gd luck.

There are lots of senior members who have applied in 2010 and still waiting for their interview to come.
No one can tell you the exact time for second AOR but it depends upon priority occupation, French linguistics etc.
If your occupation is not in priority it will take approximately 1 to 1.5 year to get the Interview/CSQ.

m81,

My sincerest thanks buddy. I have made mental notes especially with respect to CO and PO (conjonctions). I have taken every exam from DELF A2 and I have always found CO the most troublesome for me so I am encouraged by your advice on how to approach this part for C1. I haven't really done that much practice. I downloaded a past paper which I've only gone over the one time. I try to listen to RFI as much as I can but when it comes to the exam, it's different kettle of fish. With your advice I'll download maybe 2 more past papers tonight and try it out through tomorrow.

I agree with your view regarding CE and PE. My problem is in previous stages I concentrated on all sections so I passed B2 very well but only got 14.5 in CO and 15.5 in PO which makes my B2 useless for CSQ points. This time I have tried to put less effort there but I've always found CE is basically free points lol.

As for fatigue we're a bit lucky here coz the exam is staggered. CO is next saturday. I doubt if it has ever made difference for me coz I spend that week crapping myself.

Thanks again. I hope I don't have to go the TEFAQ way (which isn't available here anyway).

OsamaR, As far as I remember - spouse gets points for language ability too . See here http://www.canadavisa.com/quebec-immigration-spouse.html

I would send the test scores right now and get your file updated :)
Good Luck.
Thank you for your input shootingstar.. :)
My representative is telling me that since I am the main applicant and I don`t know french, it won`t be a good idea to submit my wifes results at this stage as they might start inquiring about my test results too!! So he told me to wait till they come back to us and see what document they require and I can always claim the points of my wife`s french result during the interview !!!!

what do you think ? Any adivce guys ?

Why dont you take some classes and take DELF or TCFQ and submit the result along with your wife's result. You can also take help of your wife as well as she has already passed the exam.

That's what i have done. I have done with A2 and my wife is appearing for DELF A1 soon.
This is just two cent from my side.
