Oh, and another question: How did the visa office contact most of you for your interview or to say your interview was waived? Did they call or e-mail the non-Canadian? I know that when I got approved to sponsor my spouse I was e-mailed. They did not contact him at all.

Also, these interviews seem to happen in batches (I am basing that on discussion on the forum). Does that seem to be other people's take on it as well? I wonder if they have scheduled times to do interviews, and then do a whole bunch at once or something. Anyone have any take on that? Just curious.

Interviews are done mostly on sunday's the will call your husband for his interview....and yes there are lots cases that won there appeal..

Please let me know if there has been a time in Egyptian history where they have had and held a stable democratic government.

My first comment was fully supporting the move for Egyptians to procure a real democracy which was met by an Egyptian to "mind my own business". These are open forums much like a democracy is an open forum. If there is anyone who is intolerant of that kind of structure then they are not the kind of people that will help democracy to flourish. They are certainly not the kind of people who will feel at home in a democracy.

I still do fully support the Egyptian people who are striving for real democracy but they voted in a theocracy the first time and the history of the Middle East has never been favourable to the tenets of democracy. If it was culturally agreeable then the Middle East would have adopted democracy 1000 years before Europe and the New World.

No one knows the kind of people Egypt holds unless they have been there themselves. I learnt a lot about Egyptian people when I first went. Sure everyone has their right to their own opinions but when you start telling us that egypt has no hope of a democracy it makes you sound like a dictator yourself..and the header on this forum is Family Class Immigration-Cairo Visa Office not Egypt's problems and opinions on it. That is why your comments are being met with refusal here..because we are already frustrated with the process of immigration. And yes Kuudir you are right I am frustrated with the process and that is why I am angry when this happens. I was in Egypt during the pre-election process, the ex-government promised much aspects of democracy and the Egyptians found out that once he was in power he did not live up to his promises. Therefore the Egyptians rallied for days to get him out...that is freedom of speech is it not? When you come on here and start telling me it isnt and that Egypt has no hopes of attaining that I will stand against that, that does not mean I am anti democracy that means I am pro democracy does it not?

The first comment I made was supporting the Egyptians efforts for a democratic government. I still hope they get the democracy that they want but from a historical perspective it is doubtful they will. They have been exposed to the ideas of democracy from its very start but have never adopted it. Instead they have renamed Pharaoh to President but the end result is still the same. What makes a democracy successful is the division between Church and State. Sharia law does not have a tendency to be a system that is subject to reassessment in its application for equality.

Can the Egyptian people envision an Egypt without a State Religion? Can they tolerate the influence of other cultures and eventually adopt them as their own? Democracy is not easy.

I help as much as I'm able. As much as others have helped me. The crisis in Cairo has much to do with immigration as well as being noteworthy public interest. I took exception to being told that it was not my business. Its everyone's business. I support any sovereign nations efforts to obtain freedom and equality for all their peoples. Unfortunately history and an inflexible culture makes any real lasting democracy difficult. It is no coincidence that the bulk of immigration comes from countries unable to reconcile culture with modern realities.

See you misunderstand right away. It means a separation of Church and State. It means no State religion. It means laws that apply equally to all people of all faiths and social experiences. It means to find ways to expand tolerance for the broad range of the human condition. Democracy is about more than just political freedom.
