    Help Pls!!!

No one can possibly know what decision CIC will make on your file. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait until you receive a decision letter.

    Travel

Yes. The PR card is only required by [some] airlines. Border officials will look at your passport, and see that you have PR status from your CoPR.

    Beginning Outland Question

I applied outland as well, while I was "visiting" in Canada. I listed my US address as my residential, and my Canadian as my mailing. We never encountered any problems with this. I would assume that most applicants do it this way if they're currently in Canada during their application's...

    Getting SIN numbers

You'll simply go to a Service Canada, and present your passport with the CoPR. This is proof enough, and they will issue you a SIN on the spot. You'll receive a document with your SIN on it. The card will follow [through the mail] a few weeks later.

Co signer does not apply to me

We did not leave anything blank (for fear that Buffalo could consider it "incomplete"), so we wrote N/A for anything that wasn't applicable to our application.

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Google for your MP. There's websites that will ask you for your postal code. Once you input it, it will give you the contact information for the MP in your riding. Email them first (which is what we did) and they should be able to correspond with you to get it taken care of.

    Healthcare!?

I applied at a local Service Ontario. I'm not sure if there's a 90 day waiting period when you apply as an inland applicant. You may want to call a Service Ontario and ask.

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

I didn't need to show my counterfoil to get my SIN. Just my COPR was sufficient. I was able to sign up for provincial health care as well with just the COPR. Also, the COPR wasn't stapled to my passport when I sent it to Buffalo. The CIC officer did that when I landed. Having it stapled into my...

Pregnant, no insurance, no status yet - what to do?

You may want to let us know which province you currently live in, so someone can give you more concise advice. My husband's supplemental insurance (through his employer) covers my prescriptions, but will NOT cover any procedures or fees that are normally covered by OHIP (we live in Ontario). In...

    Healthcare!?

The answer to your question completely depends on whether you applied inland, or outland. If you applied inland, you are eligible for OHIP once you get your AIP. If you applied outland, you will have to wait until you get your PR, land and wait out the 90 days wait-period. Private health...

Pregnant, no insurance, no status yet - what to do?

I second chelley's advice. I'm currently pregnant in Ontario and without provincial health insurance. I found a midwife who is providing my prenatal care free of charge. I still have to pay for tests/labs/medications out of pocket, but the savings of not paying for a doctor is amazing...

    plzzzzz help....itss urgent

We didn't include anything in regards to our education. We just listed the education we had (any degrees, certifications, etc). I would just send a copy. I have never heard of CIC requesting originals for that type of document.

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

We filed in February, I just landed this past weekend, and my ECAS is still sitting at "Application has been received". It updated once since then to say that the Medicals were received, but that update disappeared shortly after. Needless to say, ECAS is NOT a reliable way to check on your...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

For land travel, your CoPR (which will be stapled in your passport) is sufficient. For air travel, you'll need to apply for an additional document that will prove to the airline that Canada will let you back in. You can find all the info you need for that at...

Thanks for the info! We should have just gone to Buffalo and got the visa done at the embassy, but we didn't think it would take so long to mail it in. I guess that's on par with everything else taking a while from CIC.

We sent mine in and they received it on the 7th. They've had it a week and a half and the return tracking number hasn't been activated yet. I think I read somewhere 2-3 weeks for them to get it back in the mail to you? I'm not positive though.

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Does anyone know of, or have, a list of items to be completed after landing? Such as applying for a SIN, provincial health care, getting a drivers license, etc? I've made a pretty good 'to-do' list, but I'm sure I'm missing things. I'll be landing, trying to get health care and entering my third...

My ECAS is still sitting at "Application received" and I got my PPR on Tuesday. Now I know why they tell us that ECAS is not a reliable means of communication for inland applications. Definitely put your faith in direct communication from your visa office over the ECAS!
