The poster can also drive / bring the car into Canada from the US using a commercial ferry crossing.
Regardless I think the recommendation was not to attempt to bring the car over until after a successful entry. I suppose though that doesn't rule out a friend driving the car over a land border (or ferry crossing) to avoid the expensive of shipping a car over via a commercial company.

According to cbp website, the driver should have a notarized copy of a permission letter addressed to the "Officer in Charge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection" to drive the car across the border.

Did you travel and able to enter to Canada ?
Yes i travelled by air from California to Feb 2026. On landing there is a row of kiosk machines, where you scan your Passport and Pr card and the machine decides if you need to see an immigration officer or not. For me it gave clear so i was able to just grab by suitcase and walk out. I did not have any interview at border . Everything went well luckily.

OP mentions this in the very first post in this thread - 1,180 days outside of Canada, considering that 1,095 is the limit (the max one could theoretically stay outside of Canada without breaching RO) this puts OP at 85 days over, or almost three months. Now there's another recent case here though where the OP may have gotten reported at just under four months, https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...ng-residency-obligation.876557/#post-11134100

Did your shortfall is from PR date or expiry? How did you prepared H&C doc, did you take lawyer help, I have some illness and continue struggle with company to transfer me. what If I get secondary check, will CBSA officer just give me warning or have to file mandatory report form 44. sorry for to many questions!

I entered with only 1.5yrs left on my PR card. I plan to stay 2 full yrs before applying for an extension. I did not take any lawyer help, just medical documents that made it difficult for me to relocate. My company was willing to relocate me, I first entered and as I was not written up, i asked my company to transfer me. Else I would have gone back to US. If you are sent to secondary check, then i guees its 50-50, you could be written up or let you pass based on your H&C.
