I understand that until my status is restored it's normal that I can't work.
But my point is that with a PNP and a company as a sponsor it's crazy that someone has to wait 6 months, even if I was just arrived.
A couple of years ago a friend of mine was sponsored (LMIA) but they rejected the work permit (something wrong with the application, I don't remember what exactly).
She went the same day to the border with all the documents and because everything was ok they gave to her a work permit.
maybe I can do something similar?
The border is closed to non-essential travel and no ports of entry in BC are offering immigration services. There are a couple in Ontario and Quebec but you still need a valid status first.
Would your employer let you work remotely? If so, you can return to your home country and work from there while you wait for your work permit to be processed.
Here they're saying that some business are experiencing a lack of workers and even visitors (with a valid job offer) can apply from inside Canada.

Apparently 30 days of processing time. But if I check on the processing time page it says 189. So it's not clear.

From all of your posts it sounds like you are out of status. You are not a visitor or anything else. If you haven't already you need to find a lawyer, apply to restore your status, and/or leave Canada to avoid screwing up your PR application.
But I can't do that.
If it's for a couple of weeks maybe, but for 6 months it simply means that I'll lose my job, the one that sponsored me for the PNP.
So without that I can't apply for any work permit. And that means that the only thing I can do is wait for the pr.
The pr through the tech pilot is via paper application, it needs 15 months.
I obviously can't wait 15 months and at that point be in Canada will be pointless.
And I'm refusing to believe that with a PNP letter and a company that sponsored me that is the final result. It doesn't make any sense.
So you can't work remotely from your home country? You can't talk to a lawyer and figure out what application to file to restore your status as a worker? Because throwing your hands up is not an option. You are in this situation because you filed the wrong application and are now out of status. A provincial nomination or employer willing to sponsor you does not give you status. The final result should have been you applying for a bridging work permit, but you didn't do that so this is the result instead.
Not for 6 months. There's no way to not go a single day at the office for 6 months in my case. It's too much time.

I can't understand how is it possible that a work permit for a pnp with a sponsor (in every situation, not only in my case) requires 6 months.
There are people sponsored from outside Canada, so if you can apply only online and the processing time is 180 days that means their companies are sponsoring people that, after receiving the letter, can't work for them for 6 months? (even more considering that the application for a LMIA is obviously not processed the same day you received the confirmation).
Seems strange, it's all I'm saying.
Rule is rule, doesn't matter if you can understand it or not.
You lost status, so the first thing to do is to restore status. If not, even your PR application will be affected.
You may apply for restoration of status within 90 days of your permit expiry date or you must leave Canada. Remember, this 90 days period starts from the expiration date of your last work permit, not from the date of your work permit extension rejection.
You can apply for a bridging work permit along with your restoration application. IRCC has a specific unit for work permit processing and all the applications are in the queue by the date of submission. The 189 days processing time is the one for most of the cases - you may be lucky to have a less processing time. This will be the best situation. Do NOT leave Canada during this period or you will not receive the new work permit if it is approved.
I know this might be difficult, but this is the best solution for you. The processing time changes all the time. Always have the best hope with you.
Problem is, my last visa expired several months ago (more then 90 days).
Like I said I applied for the extension and I went in implied status one month after but in the meantime these kind of applications were blocked (because the fingerprint office was closed). Only a couple of weeks ago they started to process application again even without fingerprint.
I think most of the people that applied for something this year waited in implied status for more then 90 days.
Implied status only exists when you submit your new permit application before the old one expires. This period ends when the decision of your new permit comes. Since your new permit was rejected, forget about the implied status as if it never existed.
Again, for your case, what needs to be noted is the starting date of your 90-day grace period of applying for restoration - you are having less (or much less) than 90 days to apply now. Don't complain about this or that. Don't think about other people's cases - they are irrelevant to yours. The best solution is to apply for restoration and bridge WP as soon as possible.

I spoke with a lawyer and apparently it's all very different from what we thought.
-now there's not a limit of 90 days to restore the status, there's only a specific date, December 31, 2020.
-now even if you go out of status, if you want to apply for the restoration in the meantime you can continue to work
-the waiting time for a work permit under this condition is not 180 but less then 1 month.
Apparently they even start to process application again at Point Roberts, so tomorrow i'll go there and try to solve this directly there.
If it'll not work i'll apply tomorrow afternoon for the restoration and from wednesday i'll be able to work again (until the decision).

That it great news! Excellent that you sorted this situation out.
In other words, we have to apply for a new work permit instead of extending an Open work permit, is that correct? In the case of being sponsored by a company and having a PNP.
