I don't think so.
I think a lot depends on whether you have a valid LMIA and also which office is dealing with your application (some like London UK take 3-4 weeks, others take months)

yes NOC is an important factor but it’s not the skill type that’s matter but the field of work. For example :


Prioritizing work permit processing for essential occupations
Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) will prioritize the processing of Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) for the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes related to agricultural, agri-food and truck driving occupations. Where operationally possible, offices are encouraged to prioritize work permit applications for these NOCs, in addition to health-related occupations, as these occupations have been identified as essential and critical for Canada.

A daily report is being pulled by the Operations Planning and Performance Branch (OPPB) and distributed to the International and Centralized Networks to ensure the following NOC codes related to work permit applications are prioritized.

• NOC 6331 – Butchers, meat cutters and fishmongers – retail and wholesale
• NOC 7511 – Transport truck drivers
• NOC 8252 – Agricultural service contractors, farm supervisors and specialized livestock workers
• NOC 8431 – General farm workers
• NOC 8432 – Nursery and greenhouse workers
• NOC 8611 – Harvesting labourers
• NOC 9463 – Fish and seafood plant workers
• NOC 9617 – Labourers in food, beverage and associated products processing
• NOC 9618 – Labourers in fish and seafood processing
• NOC 9462 – Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers

OPPB will also pull a list of the following NOC codes for health-related work permit applications to ensure they are prioritized:

• NOC 3011 – Nursing co-ordinators and supervisors
• NOC 3012 – Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses
• NOC 3111 – Specialist physicians
• NOC 3112 – General practitioners and family physicians
• NOC 3124 – Allied primary health practitioners
• NOC 3125 – Other professional occupations in health diagnosing and treating
• NOC 3131 – Pharmacists
• NOC 3211 – Medical laboratory technologists
• NOC 3212 – Medical laboratory technicians and pathologists’ assistants
• NOC 3214 – Respiratory therapists, clinical perfusionists and cardiopulmonary technologists
• NOC 3215 – Medical radiation technologists
• NOC 3217 – Cardiology technologists and electrophysiological diagnostic technologists, n.e.c.
• NOC 3233 – Licensed practical nurses
• NOC 3234 – Paramedical occupations
• NOC 3413 – Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
• NOC 4411 – Home child care providers (LMIA-required in-Canada applicants)
• NOC 4412 – Home support workers, excluding housekeepers (LMIA-required in-Canada applicants)

Note: While applications in certain sectors are being prioritized based on NOC codes, this does not preclude an officer from prioritizing a case (should all processing requirements be met and operational capacity allow) where there is a demonstrated urgent need for the worker in Canada.

Hi all i hope someone can help me with this. After 4 weeks of waiting for my medical pass I received an email from clinic that IRCC is requiring me to do more test and they did not explain what type they just said the doctor will explain as i got into the clinic. I am feeling nervous right now. Did someone experience the same? Or know if it’s something serious?

i did experience similar to this but not after submission of completed medicals but while doing it the doctor said my x-ray was not clear and I needed to do additional blood test since I have a tattoo, however in the IRCC standard medical examination those weren’t mentioned.
don’t worry just ask the doctor if something is wrong and you can also ask them for a copy for yourself too.

Honestly I don’t really understand I’ve submitted my work permit application LMIA exemption with my dependant application since September 2020, this week make it 33 weeks against 18 weeks timeline. Only medical and biometric are passed on 24th November 2020.

Eligibility and background check is still under progress since then. I received a response to my last webform last week is still the same generic response that my application is still on “Active Review “.

My Noc is on level C and is in job in demand so I don’t really understand what is going on.

I submitted my application in Nigeria but my file have been transferred to Nairobi office .

Am the principal applicant close work permit and I included my family of 5 cos my valid job offer was supported my Nomination in Manitoba , so is both my Work Permit application and PR application that’s ongoing.

My Noc 9462 industrial butcher/ meat cutter.

Only response from IRCC through webform is my application is still under “Active Review”

You cannot withdraw the application at this stage in my view.

What you can expect is IRCC can request for additional documents if they are more generous to your application but I don’t think they will.

Thank you for your response, Yes I used the old EMPLOYMENT OFFER NUMBER for the second application. And the Employer has just confirmed receiving the refund from the 1st application. Did not know every new application requires a new Employment number / Compliance fee.

Why do you think I can’t withdraw the application?
Can I write my Primary and Secondary Offices to advise them of this and as well raise webforms?
If I writing them , Can I request my Employer is paying the Fee and generating a new Employment number or should my message be request to withdraw my application?

You can also confirm from your employer if he made the $230 compliance fee cos you won’t be able to submit your lmia exemption work permit in the first place if the number is not generated or updated cos you have to enter it where the lmia number is on the form
