Opinions needed: Husband's closed work permit is expiring, and he's moving to India.

My husband works on a closed work permit (got through LMIA); his work permit is expiring in May. He is taking time off from work for a year, and he wants to pursue some courses. I have a PR, and my citizenship application is in process. I was thinking of applying for Outland PR once he moves back to India, since I'll be here. I'm not sure if this is the right approach since we could also apply for SOWP while he's in Canada. The processing time for Outland PR is much faster and easier. His employer applied for PR, but he still hasn't received the AOR.

Is there a reason why you didn’t sponsor him already? I assume you got married after you got PR. It is fairly unusual to live apart for a year if you have recently gotten married (when exactly did you get married and did you get married in Canada or India? Were both families at the wedding?). Is this an advanced degree at a good school and did he attempt to do these courses in Canada?

I didn’t sponsor him because his PR application is in progress already. He applied for it before we got married. I know it’s unusual to live apart, but we are good with it. He wants to pursue a niche course in India. This is not about trust issues or my marriage. I wanted opinions on which path would be better.

Always better to get PR on your own especially these days when IRCC is looking for people who are trying to secure PR through marriage and also given the fact that you will be apart for a year. Partially also depends on the PR program.
