Hi everyone,

I worked in Canada between October 2013 and August 2016 with some gaps in between.

Can anyone let me know if I can claim points for my work experience between October 2013 and April 2014, as more than 36 months have passed since then?

Thank you

You can claim points for any work experience received in the last 10 years.

the difference with Canadian work is whether or not it makes you eligible for Canadian Experience Class and not just Foreign Skilled Worker class.

To qualify for CEC you need one year of work in the last 3.

Going back 3 years from today that's March 2014. If you have a year of work between March 2014 and today (which you don't appear to), you do not qualify for CEC but you do for the points for 3 years of Canadian work.

Hey kryt0n, thanks for your help as always.

I'm confused by what you said here:

Can you please clarify? Wouldn't I qualify for CEC if I do have a year of work between March 2014 and today?

I think he meant if you DONT have. As long as you have minimum 12 months of work experience between Mar 2014 and today you're good

Yes, sorry.

You need 12 months of work in the last 36 to qualify for cec.

If the work is older you still get the points though.
