Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some clarification about whether certain work experience would still be considered valid for immigration programs.

Here is my timeline:

• Came to Canada as an international student in September 2019

• Study permit expired: October 30, 2022

• Applied for PGWP: November 22, 2022

• PGWP refused: March 6, 2023 (reason: study permit had expired and I had not applied for restoration)

• Applied again for PGWP + student status restoration: May 2023

• PGWP approved: December 15, 2023

My questions are:

1. Would the work experience count between applying for my first PGWP (Nov 2022) and the refusal on March 6, 2023, count for my Express Entry work experience?

2. After I applied again for PGWP and restoration in May 2023, would any work experience during that period count until my PGWP was approved in December 2023?

I’m mainly trying to understand which periods of work experience would be considered valid for immigration programs.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
