What to do if LMIA is rejected?

My (common law) boyfriend and I are currently waiting for his LMIA to be processed. He had to leave back to Ireland so he could work to pay our bills here. (I'm Canadian.)

We were hoping to come up with some back up plans in case it gets rejected.

What can we do to get him back here IF it happens to get rejected?? I would love to go over there but I have too many obligations here. (Pets, house + all our stuff, debt, etc.)

He can come as a visitor but obviously won't be able to work.

Assuming you've lived together for at least one full year, have you sponsored him for PR yet? If so, he will be able to work once his PR is approved.

Otherwise, he would need to find another employer who is willing to offer him a full time job and also able to obtain an approved LMIA.

I don't know about what's required to sponsor him for PR. We've lived together for just over a year before he left in November. We're not opposed to marriage. I don't know if I make enough money to support him if that's a requirement... :-[
