So here is the situation.

I applied for a CSQ under the PEQ temporary work stream in November of 2024.

I applied to it with my Post Graduate Work Permit which expired in February of 2025.

My current work sponsored me for a closed work permit around that time. I have been working for that company ever since with the interim work authorization that was given when they put in my application for a closed work permit.

On August 17th, 2025 I received my only update on my application which was an Avis de Delai saying they needed more time to process my application with no further information. I'm looking online, and this year it seems that CSQ applications under PEQ streams are taking 9-12 months to process.

The thing is, I hate my job and I desperately want to quit. It is not explicitly stated in the rules for the Temporary workers program that you need to keep working full-time in Quebec. However, according to the lawyer and the consultant I spoke with, apparently people have been rejected in the past for not continuing to uphold a job here while their application was processing. Also, there have been many rejections this year.

I have plenty of evidence that I plan to settle in Quebec permanently: I've lived here 6 years, I've learnt french, I have plenty of friends and I have been living with my Quebecois boyfriend for 8+ months now. If I quit my job and get a visitor record instead while waiting, will my application be rejected?

I've asked chatgpt about other ways I might be able to prove intent to avoid rejection and it suggested I volunteer somewhere in Montreal and sign up for french courses. Also, of course, I would write a letter to MIFI stating that I had to quit due to a toxic work environment as well as the other details of how I'm showing intent to stay.

I want to know if anyone has been in this similar situation under my same stream? Were you able to show proof of intent to stay in other ways besides employment?

Thanks

Since you apply under PEQ- Worker, they not only consider your French but also your job. If you are confident with your advance French (more than B2) , you will be less risky, very high chance that they will call you for interview to explain to them why you don't have the job anymore, also to check your French proficiency.

I know I will most likely be called for an interview and would have to explain my situation in french. That being said, I'm looking to see if anyone else has gone through a similar situation and if volunteer work and french courses, plus proficiency in french were enough to convince them
