hi Quink and Seniors,

I just want to check some questions as below. Please share your idea. Thanks.

As I am a PR of Canada and landed on Sept 28th, 2015. Currently I am outside of Canada and I (only me) am planning to return to Canada around April, 2016 (my wife and baby will follow around 1.5 years later) which is more than 6 months later. So my questions is after 6 months when I or my family re-enter to Canada do you think any problems? I think should be no problems as I read at some forum as per below.

Question from forum member: I have a valid Canadian PR card and lived in Canada for quite a while. But unfortunately I have to go outside of Canada for more than 6 months to help my sick grandfather. I heard somewhere that I won’t be allowed back into the country if I am not physically in Canada for more than 6 months. Is there anything I can do before leaving in order to make things easier when I am coming back?

Answer from forum member: The information you received is incorrect. Canadian PR Cards are valid for a 5 year period. You are free to travel outside of Canada during that 5 year period. However, upon renewal of your PR Card, you should have accumulated at least 2 years of residency in Canada within that 5 year period, unless there are humanitarian and compassionate grounds to explain your absence or you were outside of Canada accompanied by your Canadian spouse. The” 6 month rule” used to be in place a number of years ago but now, you have just to be in Canada for a total of 2 years within the 5 year period to maintain your PR Card upon renewal.

Please correct me if i am wrong. Any information or link from CIC regarding about this information. Thanks.

Best Regards,
Myat

You are right. That was what the immigration officer told me when I was landing.

About the 6-month period, I think that person is mixing up with the Green Card of the US.

I changed address back in mid January. I'm in Canada so the telephone agent asked to use online form. You should call CIC first and see if you can use the online one as well.

I received my own PR card today in Toronto. I landed on Oct 23rd at Niagara Falls. They did not request new photos from me.

The card was printed on Jan 28.

I changed my address and submitted request through case specific inquiry. They did not acknowledge the request but I was able to receive the card at my new address."""

when did you change your address? and can you use the "case specific enquiry" form to change address if some one is outside of canada but has given a canadian address?

Hi, today I have received my PR Card, but not for my wife and my son.

I called them and they said that an email was sent to me on 26. January but it was not. Woman from CIC resend email to me right now but in the email it is not stated how many photographs I need to send.

Does someone knows how many photos are required? One or more than one per person?

BTW: Landed 20-OCT-2015

Congrats bro...

Hi,

I landed with my family in Niagara Falls (Rainbow Bridge) on 18th Oct 2015, still no cards or communication. I am living in USA and has given a relative's address and now it is almost time to more to Canada permanently. I wonder when will they send the cards to all of us and the waiting is so frustrating!

Sachin

Just called CIC ,call waiting time was only a min..and for first time I had spoke with unbelievable nice lady .. She inform me that card are approved and sened for a printing .. Anyone know when I should expect my PRC in my mail box ? Landed in Vancouver , home - Kelowna .
Many thanks..
I hope processing time will drop

Great! Just received a letter from them for my wife saying that they need her photographs again (it took them nearly 4 months to figure that out)! Nothing for me or my daughter yet! Don't know if it is a good or a bad news!

By the way, how much more time do they take after resubmitting the photos? Is it quick or does it take forever as usual?

Sachin
