Personally I see that you are the meanest member of this thread. You can be nicer and stop critisising everyone

This forum is not about your personal opinion of some other member. Nobody cares about that. The scope of this networking lies in sharing information, asking questions and getting replies in appropriate threads. As simple as that.

Yes and you are not helping anyone.
And I am reminding you that this forum is about helping and not making fun of other people opinion or questions

I have helped hundreds of applicants throughout different threads since 2014. And I don't believe that a person with zero rating who has been active only in this thread is in position to remind me of something.

Guys please let's tone it down a little....don't let us fight ourselves here. We're all here to support each other not turn on each other. We just need to tolerate each other because of our different ideas, views, opinion , background, experiences etc.....Please let's calm down.

We should direct all our anger at ECAS, where it's totally deserved... ;)

HI,
Is it necessary to be employed in canada to get a Travel Document while abroad ?

It's not necessary. I got the same concern about the required residency days being 720d. I became PR on Oct 28, 2015 and applied for my travel doc on Dec 23,15. I just quit my job too and was out of Canada. However, for the required residency days, I wrote all the days since I came to Canada in 2010. So i had a total of thousands of days although I am technically only been a PR for 1 month or so..... I wrote those days down just so it doesnt complicate things bcos it says there that if u dont meet the required 720d, u have to give more proof etc..... However, my travel doc was issued with no problem, and like Quink said, I dont think the agent even cares abt those days xD just formality

Yep... if you want the full explanation read this document... section 7.3:

7.3 Persons who have had permanent resident status less than five years
A28(2)(b)(i) provides that if a person has been a permanent resident for less than five years, they must demonstrate, at examination, that they will be able to meet the residency obligation in respect of the five-year period immediately after they became a permanent resident.

In these situations, officers should adhere to the following procedure:
1. Calculate the number of days of physical presence in Canada commencing from the date that the person became a permanent resident.
2. If 730 days remain in the five-year period following the date that the person became a permanent resident, then that person cannot be found to have failed to comply with the
residency obligation contained within the Act.
3. If there is less than 730 days remaining in the five-year period, count the number of days remaining and add them to the number of days calculated in step 1; that is, add
to the “number of days physical presence in Canada” as calculated in step 1.

If this resultant number equals or exceeds 730 days, the permanent resident complies with the residency obligation in IRPA. Nevertheless, in these cases, officers should inform the
person of the possibility of losing their permanent residency in the event that the person does not meet the 730-day threshold at some future time. When officers inform persons on such matters, an entry to this effect should be made in the Field Operational Support System (FOSS) or the Computer-Assisted Immigration Processing System (CAIPS), as appropriate, based on whether the officer is overseas or in Canada.
