This is crazy... Why should we wait to travel?
They should give initial visa with 3 or 4 months validity when they know pr card may take forever.... :'(

It's mind bogglingly stupid. Why they issue CoPR's on a plain sheet of paper rather than a secure document that's valid for travel just makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I'd love someone to explain the reasoning behind that decision. :o

Exactly. Why do I have to take care of that piece of paper until I become a citizen instead of just a visa in my passport. They should just issue one visa in the passport which is also a COPR...

New update to estimated time: 50 days.

That's shocking....I went via London for my short landing...but luckily I came back via Abu Dhabi (Etihad)....It seems I'd have landed in a soup if I had chosen via London...

+1 for informing....

You may be able to travel through london, if you have certain type of visa or official documents from certain countries. Airside transit visa is needed even if you are not leaving london airport...irrespective of time you would be spending at airport - let it be 30 min or 4 hours.

Landed on Nov 7th along with family. Planning on staying till I get my PR card and come back in 7 months to Canada to start my new life here.. I have a project to finish back in India.

Should I stay till I get my PR card? should I apply for travel document and leave? Did anyone do the later? what are your experiences.

TIA

As per current timelines, you are 40 days away from getting your PR card. So if you could stay here, you may stay.

If you want to go back, you don't need Travel document. As after 7 months, you will have your PR card anyways. Also, for getting at travel document, you need to be outside Canada.

But, if you plan to go back just check with airlines that they will let your board. For eg, flights going through London won't let you board if you don't have valid US/Canada visa. Even if you would always be in the airport. So chose your flight wisely and after inquiring.

Hi Guys, I have a problem in receiving the PR card. I landed on Aug 30 and was told by CIC call center that my PR card was mailed on Oct 14.
But still I haven't received the PR card. Since the card is sent via regular mail, I can't track it:( I provided the mailing address when I landed, and it looks correct in the ecas).

It's a very frustrating situation for me, as I was planning the travel outside Canada at the end of December. Any advice, or suggestions?

I have landed on September 30, i suppose to receive my PR cards this week but upon calling CIC today...the agent told me that i have updated my address on November 13th so it will take another 45 days (which is Beginning of January 2017).

Is that true?

If agent checked your file by taking your information and told you this then he may be right. Not another 45 definitely. But may be couple of weeks. Because it's for sure that it's not under process yet.

You should have received the PRC by now. The rules say that you should wait 60 days since the mailing date and inform CPC-Sydney that the card was lost during transit.
