Hello folks,

I have one questions, after landing in Canada i ll look for jobs. my question is how delays in PR card effect landed PRs?
I saw that delays are exceeding 2 months, but i would like to know what actually that mean.
It does not impact in any ways.
With Landing document (COPR), you can apply for SIN.
SIN would typically start with '5' for PR holders.

And an employer would understand the fact that you are waiting for PR card to come.
All they need is your SIN and you back ground check.

Good Luck !!

From Wikipedia:
The first digit of a SIN usually identifies the province in which it was registered, as listed below. However, the government has found it necessary in the past to supply certain regions with SIN numbers assigned to other regions.

1: Atlantic Provinces: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador (this may also cover overseas residents).
2–3: Québec
4–5: Ontario: excluding Northwestern Ontario (#4 includes overseas forces)
6: Prairie Provinces (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta), Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Northwestern Ontario.
7: Pacific Region (British Columbia and Yukon)
8: Not in Use
9: Temporary resident
0: Not used (Canada Revenue may assign fictitious SIN numbers beginning with zero to taxpayers who do not have SINs)

Landed on 27th March.

As per CIC, cards were shipped on 6th May but still waiting.

Has anyone experienced similar delay?

I landed on 1st March'15, when I spoke to CIC a week back they said my cards are in production and expect to arrive in 2 weeks time. If your cards are already shipped out it shouldn't take this long. You may want to call them again and check the exact status.

The CIC agent who told me that cards were shipped on 6th May asked to call back after 6 weeks (from 6th May). I'm wondering what sort of shipping is that which may take up to 6 weeks!!

Landed on April 5th. Haven't had any news yet. I called CIC early last week and they said that I should receive my card at the end of the week. Nothing happened. My level of frustration has reached 1000%. I need to travel in 1 week and I applied for a travel document. Does someone know who long it takes?

how did you apply for a travel document? I think you can apply for it only outside of Canada, not when u r in Canada.

I think it's confusing because the title says: "Travel Document - Permanent Resident Abroad" but it certainly means that you are "returning back" to Canada and you don't have a proof of PR (example: your card). Here is the link:

ECAS doesn't show the PR card status sometimes. Actually, 80% of the cases aren't reported in ECAS.
