Oh may be you are right, could seniors answers this? Or anyone from outside Canada who has called them?
BTW is your home address shown in Canada when you login to ECAS and what about mailing address?
My home address in ECAS is in Canada but mailing address is not.

Right, So I just called up the CIC and the agent gives me a flash news that my file does not have a Canadian Address on it. My mailing address on the file was accidentally deleted from the system on march 10 and sent me a link to update my address again.

Anyone who have landed in March 2015 and have got their PR cards??
I landed at caraway on March 21. I know it is too early to expect PR card for people who landed in late March. Keep updated.

Thank you for your reply. I am just worried if they realize that I am not inside Canada at the moment, they will terminate the process of my PR. Do you have any advise?
I think you don't have to tell them you are outside Canada. But maybe confirm with someone more senior.

rinleena said:
Then its fine..they would mail to an address in Canada.
I am actually not sure that is right. The mailing address needs to be true, especially that so many people had problems with address (being deleted from the system or being wrong).

Currently it takes 40-50 days, but you might want to confirm with CIC (call them) after processing time posted online at what stage is your card and what mailing address they have in the system, because often they have problems with addresses.

Hi Folks,

I landed on March 6th, 2015, and provided my relatives address in Canada for the PR card. Is it true that CIC does not process PR card if applicant is not present in Canada? I don't think this is correct, but I may be wrong.. please share your thoughts.
I am still waiting to get my PR card, and as per CIC website, it is taking about 42 days on average now.

This is just my interpretation: since on that link it says you CAN return to Canada in private vehicle WITHOUT PR card, we can conclude you are allowed to travel outside of Canada without one. BUT, on the way back you have to prove you will be living in Canada, so make sure you can prove you had to leave, but actually are living in Canada (work, lease agreement, bills in your name etc), just in case they ask, especially if you left Canada right after landing.

Plus, they do not check if you are still in Canada while PR card is being processed, unless somebody informs them you left.

Beware that they send PR card only to Canadian addresses, though.

BTW, 42 days listed on their website is not until you receive the card. It is usually 2-3 weeks longer than the time posted on their website, depending on your luck adn where you live.

Its showing some indian address as mailing address that was my old address . Though it shows my canadian address in permanent address . I am livng in canada from last 3 years and i dont know why its showing indian address in mailing address .

Hi all, I landed on March 29th and now I am waiting for the PR card but this morning I was wondering if I should apply for PR card or if they will send it to me without having asked for it. Is it an automatic process or I need to apply for it?

Also, I need to travel to USA at the end of May, can I re-enter to Canada with the paper that confirm that I am a permanent resident? (or should I have the PR card?)

Thanks!

They will send it to you automatically to the Canadian mailing address you provided at landing, but it is good to call and check what address they have in the system as mailing address after the processing time posted on their website has passed.

If you will travel by personal vehicle, you can enter Canada with your CoPR.

Hi, you shouldn't be worried. You can use the number provided to call them from outside Canada. It actually redirects to the same number that someone inside Canada would call, so unless they ask you outright, they shouldn't know you are calling from outside. I know because I did this as well.

Just follow the advice the others have given and ensure that CIC has your correct mailing address in their system and as long as everything is fine with the PR card application (i.e. they don't need new pics, etc), it will be processed and mailed to the Canadian address on file.

Hi Space,
I know that I can travel by personal vehicle and cross border without PR card. I can travel with COPR document. Someone posted that CIC will not send PR Card to canadian address if applicant is NOT present in canada.. is it right??

I am not sure, sorry. Although I don't know how would they know, since CBSA and CIC don't really share data, as far as I know. I understand you want to be sure, maybe somebody else will know.
