Ecas never got updated for us after landing - it still just shows Complete and has details of our landing. Nothing about PR cards at all.

Yeah, mine is like that still and I've now received my card. At no point did another section for the PR Card show up.

Any AINP applicants out there? Can you please advise?

I completed the landing process with an Edmonton immigration office on Mar 04. I was told that it took about 6-8 weeks for the PR card to come. However, the CIC website shows that the processing time for new residents' PR cards is only 18 days. Which timeline is more accurate?

I have to travel outside of Canada on April 15. Do you know how long it took you to receive your PR card provided that you are an AINP inland applicant?

Thank you!

I am quoting myself to give you an answer:

So, I talked to a very nice CIC call centre agent (weird), and he told me the process for PR card is as follows:

1. checking the file (whatever that means) - this takes 18 days as per processing time posted on their website - result is "file closed"
2. technical part - scanning the pictures, checking the quality
3. printing of the card
4. mailing the card

I guess we all get confused because we think it will be mailed after 18 days (or any other processing time posted), but it's not actually like that. He did tell me the last 3 steps should not take longer than 5-10 days, but you never know. Plus then the time it takes for the post to deliver the card (snail mail). He quoted 4-6 week in total to me.

I believe they don't care which type of applicant you were, we are all PRs now, and they treat all the PR cards the same.

If I'm wrong, someone will correct me :)

1) It seems that in some cases, CIC has the correct mailing address in their system even though ECAS is not updated with the right one. What you should do is call CIC and ask them what mailing address they have to be sure it will go to the right one.

2) When you call CIC, you don't have to let them know you're not in Canada. As far as I know, they don't explicitly ask you and you shouldn't volunteer the information otherwise (not saying you should lie though if they do ask). You can contact the call center from outside by dialing +1-613-944-4000 and pressing 1 then 1, you'll be transferred to the in-Canada line.

Thanks for your reply and congratulations for your PR card

Can anyone tell me how long will the card take to arrive at Vancouver, BC? Mine was mailed out on march 3rd as per CIC to my old address and it has not arrived yet. I subscribed to 4 months of mail forwarding as well with Canadapost but no pr card :(

Hi,
I landed on Jan 29th, 2015. Any idea how long I expect to receive my PR card after landing? and How to track the mailing process?

I left Canada for my home country due to a family emergency after landing but before the card arrives. Now I was refused to leave by the airline, unless I present them my PR card or obtain a travel document.

Two options available.
1. wait for the PR card to be delivered at my address and ask a friend to mail it to me. But no idea how long this will take.
2. apply for the travel document at the embassy. The timeline is also uncertain.

Any help and suggestion?

Did you show another evidence about your pr status to the airline ? Like COPR , driver license , health card ,
Well , I heard that from outside Canada this number (613)944-4000 can take you to the cic help line .
Try to walk in to your closest canadian embassy and apply for urgent PRTD or something .

If you landed on jan 29th and you gave a canadian address ,then your card should be at your mailbox anytime these days , I'm from jan 23rd and got my card on March 9th , 2015 . Good Luck

I showed everything to the airline staff, including COPR, health card, and even my new SIN number confirmation.
Yet, they refused to change the decision.

I called CIC number and learned that my card has been mailed out on 11th. And yes, I will receive it anytime these days.

I will just add that commercial vehicles (bus, plane, train) DO NOT accept any other document as a proof of PR status.

You have a third option: if you don't need a visa for USA, fly to an US airport close to a border, have someone pick you up with a car, and drive over US-Canada border with your CoPR.

Which number did you use to reach CIC from abroad?
Did they ask you whether you are in Canada or abroad?

Thanks

Ours took a week to come to Victoria BC after I was told they had been mailed.

I called CIC twice regarding my PR card and i got two different answers. ;D

The first gentleman told me that i should have received the card on April 05. If not, call again. I called the second time the next day asking about how to apply for the travel document. The second one told me that the card was approved, then said that it's still in process. When I asked about the travel document, he said we would send me the link to where i can see all the details, but he never did.

Just in case my PR card is not here before i leave. Does anyone know how to apply for a travel document? Should I apply for it before i leave Canada? or i have to go to the immigration office outside Canada to get it? The information provided on CIC website is confusing. I don't know where i can send my application to
