After your note, i started checking my Indian consulate site for passport renewal and it seems the same story. Dont know why they have troublesome process but it is what it is.

If you come under Toronto consulate jurisdiction, you can renew your passport with COPR document no need of PR card. I didn't get PR card yet but I renewed my passport after landing .i live in Brampton and I submitted my Indian Passport Renewal request in Brampton BLC canada office at 10 Gillingam Drive ,Brampton.

Hello people, I sure can relate to all the heart-palpitations related to waiting to receive PR cards after landing as a new permanent resident. In my case, I was outland meaning I traveled out of Canada after completing my landing formalities. I eventually had to resend photographs but eventually received my PR Cards phew!

Hi Hari,

if you already have Valid PR card with you you have to provide your Current Passport and PR card for Passport Renewal .
If you don't have PR card then you have to write a letter explaining why you didn't have PR card and send below docs for Passport Renewal

Explantation letter (for not having PR card).

In my case i wanted to apply for Passport Renewal immediately after landing so i provided.

I did call them.
They did not even look up my profile.
They asked when I sent the new photos.
When I said Aug 8, they told me to call back late Sept.

Your post gave me hope...
But i just have one question: How do you know your photos were received?

Did CIC actually notify you that they received your photos ? or are you referring to the date you saw on Canada Post tracking that your package was received?


i'm in such a stressful situation.

My spouse was granted PR status and landed JUNE 24, and we booked our flight to Brazil for SEPT 9 because they told us estimated time was 56 days and we have a family emergency situation that we need to attend.

We got a letter from our lawyer that CIC requested us to re-send the pictures as they were incorrect. we Immediately sent them the correction (hopefully) on august 11. Canada post says packaged arrived AUG 15.

Now we are biting our nails to see if my spouse will get the PR Card before our flight Sept 9.




I'm not even counting on it after hearing everyone's story.
We will have to apply for a Travel Document in Brazil - BUT we are only in brazil for 2 weeks. So the likelihood of them making us a travel document within that time frame is probably slim.


SO we will end up stuck in brazil... even though we have only been excused 2 weeks off of work (both of us) we're pretty much screwed.
