Hello Folks! Can someone please advise how long it takes for CIC to stamp a passport with the Immigrant Visa? How long does the whole process from sending and receiving the passport take?
Thanks! :)

Hello Hope1957,

The whole exercise (process from sending and receiving the passport) depending upon multiple factors could span between 1 week to 4 weeks, few cases may be longer, though most cases hover around 3 weeks. I would assume 3 weeks for median planning and worst case as 5 weeks.

Affecting factors are how far are you from the visa stamping office, how soon you respond, how many passports, have passport been renewed during application processing, how loaded is CIC, how quick is Canada post on return, etc., etc. (did I not mention...luck?. ;D.). I must add that generally CIC are quick on visa stamping and commend them for this.

Hope this helps!

Thanks :) I sent on 17th a Feb. Reached Ottawa on 19th Feb

You're lucky! I sent mine on the 13th and it reached there on the 16th and I'm still waiting :(
It's getting me scared now. I have plans to travel end of march.

Hi Octanu and Others,

In one of the posts, I have seen that CIC is holding a (may be many more) passport at Canada Post end at Ottawa, which may mean there is some congestion of passports at CIC, which is mainly as in Jan2015, PPRs issued were very few and Feb2015 has a flood of PPR due to slowdown in Jan2015 (blame Express Entry !!).

So I would say not to be scared and passports with visa will land up at your place sooner than later.

However be careful not to pursue CIC for expediting the passport return process as they would assume the worst case emergency and return your passports even without visa stamping (which is quite logical, being the fastest way to return passports back).

Hope this helps!

I received my passport and COPR. The dates mentioned for original entry date and last entry date are incorrect on the COPR. Has any one faced this problem and what do I need to do? Thanks

Congratulations :)

Thank you :)
But I think I have the same problem of the incorrect entry date on the copr. I don't know what to do about it. I am travelling end of march and don't have time
To send the passport back for the amendment.

I am planning to complete the landing at CIC office where they can correct these errors. You can do the same too after you come back from your travel.
