Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some advice or shared experiences regarding the timeline for receiving the Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) for my Protected Person application.

I received protected refugee status in July 2024, and later submitted my Permanent Residence (PR) application in August 2024 along sponsor a spouse outside Canada. Since then, I haven’t received any AOR or update. My online portal still shows everything grayed out, and there’s no status available under my application.

I have already submitted a web form inquiry, but I only received the standard response:

“We are working on processing applications as quickly as possible. Rest assured that you will be informed as soon as a decision is reached or if additional information is needed. While your application is being processed, we recommend consulting the ‘Check your application status’ page to learn how we are processing applications and how to check the status of your application.”

However, when I check the “Check your application status” page, there’s no result or update showing for my file.

I understand delays can happen, but I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced a similar situation recently — how long did it take to receive your AOR for a PR application under the protected persons category?

Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Regards,

Did you call IRCC on phone? I got my AOR after 5 months tho. Yours is way too long. I’d suggest CALL IRCC and apply for a GCMS note.

Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, I called IRCC a couple of times — they said my application is still in process and under review. It’s been quite a while, so I’m planning to request the GCMS notes soon to get a clearer picture. However, to request GCMS notes directly, you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or an individual/corporation currently in Canada.

Anybody can request a gcms note. Search the forum there’s a thread with the guidelines

Have you received it yet?

Have you received it yet?
I received the sponsor of Spouse Confirmation, including the spouse’s UCI number, and the notice stating:

“Your spouse name was included as a family member in an in-Canada application for permanent residence made by a protected person. For us to process this application, all family members who are not already Canadian citizens or permanent residents must also provide documents and information.”

I do not believe I need to resubmit the form again.

However, I do not understand the following;

IMPORTANT: If you have previously submitted all of the required documents and forms for all family members as
per this checklist, and are now only providing a completed checklist, please mark this box ☐

Should I have to redo it again based on the request?

Regarding the CGMS Notes https://atip-aiprp.tbs-sct.gc.ca/ once i have selected the my personal information https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/irccWelcome.do

As I already mention that I can not request myself request GCMS notes directly, you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or an individual/corporation currently in Canada.

“Canadian citizens, permanent residents and any individual present or corporation in Canada can make a request under the Access to Information Act.”
And for the Privacy Act, it notes:
“Canadians and foreign nationals, regardless of where they are located, can request access to their personal information held by federal government institutions under the Privacy Act.”

Well, hoping to get more suggestion and sort them out.

Thanks again

did your application fall under pilot program to process together with your application (inside canada) and your dependent (outside canada)? If yes, which country your dependent is living?

You should fill and submit whatever form is sent to you. Once again, anybody can request for their notes and it’s free.

If you think you have already submitted all required forms & documents you have to mark the box and resubmit the checklist to IRCC through webform to get your spouse included in the DR2 Program, However if could share the list of the forms and documents requested, Will try to give you the best suggestion as per my knowledge and understanding. Thanks
