Just wish to share the timelines for your reference.

My parent's have got their visa approved on 12 Aug 2016! They had applied online on 10 June 2016. It took over 60 days.

I don't know about that. Us Indians are (in)famous for leaving things to the last minute (including visa applications), so maybe the High Commission and Chd consulate are both inundated with study permit applications, still.
Anyway, I guess there's no other option but to wait, patiently.

Dear friends,

My wife and I applied for visitor visa on July 1st and we haven't received any info so far. This is online application.

Our daughter got her student visa for this winter session and we are planning to travel with her.

Travel date is 20th Aug and we also enclosed pre-booked tickets with our application.

We are little anxious and pls let me know whether we would be able to get visitor visas on time

Finally, we got a passport request on 7th Aug, dropped on 9th and expecting passport anytime

I tried to link but couldn't since the application is for my daughter who is minor. I am just waiting..we are not getting any updates from vfs.
