Visitor record extension refused

Hi all,

I am in Canada and had applied for an extension of my visitor record and it was refused with the following reason

"Reason for original entry and reason for requested extension"

There were some reasons listed in the email but the above one was in italics so I'm assuming this is the reason for refusal.

Can I appeal this decision and re-apply for a new visitor record extension?

Thanks.

Appeals are long and expensive and generally don't work for these types of refusals. Best option (if you want to remain in Canada) is to apply to restore your status. Make sure you do that within 90 days of receiving the refusal.

Thank you Scylla for the quick reply. I really appreciate it.

I received the refusal today (31 October 2018). I have been on implied status since 1st September 2018.

Can you please guide me (any link or resource) as to how to go about the process for applying to restore my status.

Thanks.

Thank you for the link. I will apply ASAP.

Last question, I have been on implied status since the previous visitor extension expired in August end. Will I maintain implied status now that I am applying for restoration of visitor status?

Thanks.
No - you are out of status in Canada and will remain out of status in Canada until the restoration application is approved.

Thank you.

Just to be clear (and to reduce my stress levels), can I stay on in Canada in this situation - without status till a decision is made on restoration?

Just a "yes" will do (instead of a long answer to save time)

Thanks

IRCC is not convinced that you need to extend you stay. This is a point that you would need to address. Else, it is advisable to return to your home country for a few months before you attempt another entry

Thanks Bryanna.

I know the reason for the refusal (declining an ITA on my Express Entry application - for reasons I cant mention here). I am confident of addressing the reasons if needed.

My only concern is - 1. Can I apply for restoration of status 2. If yes, can I stay on till a decision is made in Canada without any status (not even implied status). My implied status ended today as I got the refusal today.

Thanks.
