Hello everyone!

I'd like to say this is a really helpful forum and I'm hopeful someone may have some insight on this:
I'm applying outland through Vienna, although currently residing in Canada. I received an email from Vienna's office requesting an original "police ceritificate" to be mailed to them due to them just having a copy. My dilemma is; my country of citizenship only issues the document in my first language, not English nor French.
So, is it ok to have the document translated in my home country in Europe by a certified translator of English and send it to Vienna OR I need to get the original mailed to me to Canada where I would request a notarization at our Embassy in Ottawa and mail it to Vienna?

I hope this makes sense. I've read CIC's instructions but haven't seen this part, they mention a certified translator from Canada, but there isn't one for my mother tongue here.

Thanks very much in advance!

It makes sense to have it translated in your home country by a certified translator. I sent mine the words that had to be stated on the translation. There was no problem.

Also, it would not make sense that all translations have to be done in Canada, since most applicants apply from their home countries...

Thank you for your response! I know, I'd assume the same, but...
I requested a new police certificate last week from my country and it got mailed to my home address in EU, my family got it translated from a certified translator and they'll send it to Vienna by ordinary mail. Hopefully it's what they require. We shall see.

Is it true that Vienna asks for passport photos when you send in your passport because they make your permanent residence card ahead of time which they give you at the airport? Or some kind of document that has your picture which previously was done at the airport's immigration? So to speed up the process at the airports.
They requested just a passport from me,but i have sent all 8 pictures in my application,4 for the sponsorship + 4 for the PR,so I hope they want request anymore, cause in the checklist says to send 4 ,and if possible all 8 so u want have to resend again :)

Which checklist are you referring to?

Yes, let's hope.
I have a feeling that it will not be that long according to these processing times on the forum Vienna is much faster now :))

Hi I'm new here,
My husband and I are going through Vienna too. We send our application in Sept 2014 and got SA Nov 21 2014 on Feb 3 2015 they moved our application to "In Process" and requested more documents. Because my husband moved to Panama for now. So we re did our medical exam and today March 3 2015 it says "Mexicali recieved" .
Does anyone have a similar timeline from Vienna?
Has anyone been asked for a passport yet?
What happens if my husband cannot mail his passport in?
How long do they keep the passports for in Vienna?

Any answers would be very helpful.

Has anyone heard anything this week?

They asked for my passport on Feb 24th, was submitted on Feb 26. I gave my friend a power of attorney to submit and take my passport . They said a couple of days , but so far nothing. Hopefully by Tuesday , I'll have my passport in hand :)

Do austrians need to send their passports to Vienna? Or are they visa exempt?
