Oh congrats! What did they exactly tell you? Did they tell you that you are waiting for oath invite?
Never ask closed questions; you'll just get a yup/nope answer. :)

I applied April 2014 and passed my test Feb 19 2015. However my passport is expiring (in may) so I need to send it to my home country to renew. It will take approx 1 month.

Is it worth the risk to get it back before the oath?

What will happen if i don't have it at the ceremony? Do I need to postpone?

Such bad timing but was afraid to sent it off it before the test. Was hoping that would be the last time I needed to show it. :(

Actually, in my Oath invitation I was specifically asked to bring all original documents including all passports expired and current. Now, I still did not do my oath to know what exactly happens, but from other threads they usually are only interested with your PR card and your record of landing, but who knows?? I think depending on what the officer told you after the interview in terms of the timing for oath ( In my case they were very accurate and I got my Oath letter at the exact time they advised me with ), then you should either wait till your oath, or send it considering the 4 weeks would be before the oath date they advised you with. remember there is also min of 10 days between the Oath letter and the actual Oath date.

Good Luck!

I was told 3-5 months but that doesn't align with the times people are reporting here.
Don't worry a lot. They do not mostly ask for the passport at the ceremony. If you really want to send it for renewal, just bring a renewal receipt with you at the ceremony for peace of mind. Usually for single applicants, you get the invite within 2mos. If you have no plans of travelling, then just wait for the Oath and not renew your passport. You can always get a travel doc from your consulate/embassy in case of emergency. My passport was 1mo. expired at the time of Oath. They have already verified everything, your passport is the least of your worries, except if you don't have any other IDs to show. So feel good. Best wishes.

Hi, i recently moved to BC from Scarborough, ON due to work. I wanted to ask you which office is fastest in the West coast area. I can move in that area like Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby etc. Please recommend which is the fastest office?

Vancouver seems to be the fastest of the slowest... I sometimes feel the Vancouver office should send us $20 gift cards along with the oath invites...

Why $20 gift cards? What is the average and worst time it takes for people from Vancouver to get oath invite after they passed the written test?

In my case:

Test: Aug 20 2014
Oath: Mar 13 2015

Some people who took their tests months after me already had their ceremonies. My case is simple, no RQ, single applicant.

Pretty random (even though I have my unprovable suspicions regarding the reasons)

Hope it helps
