Hi khowe,

Congrats, it is really exciting. My file was transferred the same day as you (30 december). I checked my ecas, nothing!!! I also called them they said your file hasn't been assigned a test date yet. :(

Travel after citizenship test?? need help!

Hi guys,

I took citizenship test with my bro (we applied together in a same envelope) on Feb, 18 in Vancouver office.
Test was a piece of cake and interview was very short. Both of my brother and I had no problem during the interview (seperately) and the officer interviewed us said everything was good.

I am planning to travel in March and will be back on April 10, but then I am getting worried since I saw some vancouver applicants receiving their intivations for oath in less than 2 months. I was told that I will receive the invitation in 3-5 months so I bought my air ticket with no doubt, but it seems like most people get it earlier than that. Problem is that I have to pay penalties which is pretty expensive to change my return date.

I am having trillion butterflies in my tummy now.
[tr][td]

What do you guys think? Is it too risky to stay until April 10 which is about a week before the second month?
Does family application take longer than individual?
(No RQed for both of us)
Please give me some advice..... Thx

From what I see in the spreadsheet, I dont think you'll have your Oath date before April 10th, but you have to ensure that someone will check your mailbox for you, in case of:

Hi Paco,

Thank you for ur comment and data. ;)

It really freaks me out that Vancouver office has become faster these days  Maybe I should call CIC to report my absence in Canada til Apr. 10 just in case. I meet more than enough for the residence obligation, so I hope it won't cause any problem..

If I were you, I would follow the rules all the time. If you are going to be away for more than 2 weeks, inform CIC.

So if you are leaving the country (even on temporarily on vacation) while your citizenship is in process, do you have to inform CIC ???

I don't get why you asked this same question in 20 threads. Anyway, in your test they told you to wait between 3-5 months, didn't they? Also look at the timeline Paco posted above:

I don't post much but I read often.

Thought I would post that,

November 2013: Applied
February 2014: Receipt of application and received "Discover Canada"
December 2014: Notice to take test in Vancouver.
January 15th 2015: Took test
27th Feb 2015: Received Notice to take oath in March 17th 2015 in Vancouver.

Thanks to a helpful online community.

Thanks for providing us with your time line. 1.5 month between test and receiving oath invite, that is great! I am hoping i can get my oath invite within 3-4 weeks too.
