Hi everyone,

I am a little worried about our application because it seems to be going very slowly.

I am sponsoring my boyfriend (common-law) who lives in the US. Our application was submitted on February 13, AOR1 received on February 28 and SA granted on March 3. Schedule A and police report were submitted on March 27 through Webform. We have not received any update since. The applicant status in ECAS still says "We have received your application" (only 1 line). We have not received a medical request either.

We called CIC last Thursday and they said that our file had not been transferred to a visa office yet (still in Mississauga), but she said everything seemed to be in order. She couldn't give a reason to why it had not been transferred yet and said it was normal that it was that long.

However, looking a messages from a lot of you, I feel that the process is usually quicker than that (with most having their entire application processed in less than 6 months). It has already been 4 months for us and it seems like we are stuck.

Has anyone been in that situation? Any advice?

Thanks

There seems to be an increasing number of backlog ever since May 2017...even PR cards are now being released not at 45 days, but at 52 days plus 10 more days for delivery. One of my friends is in the same boat. But as long as everything is in order, it will be fine. It just takes a lot of patience.

We sent in our FBI police certificate application with the money order and finger prints in mid-April. Anybody know how much longer will it take?

Edit: We didn't use a channeler. We mailed it directly to the FBI.

I mailed on March 23. Mine CC got swiped on 30th May. Called them on Friday and the operator confirmed that the results were dispatched on 5th June. Expecting them to reach me in next couple of days. I am in Louisiana. Depending where you are located add 2-4 weeks after the card is swiped.

Thanks for your response. Your timeline is very similar to awahidi's. It looks like I should be receiving mine in the next month.

Thank you all for your answers. It's hard not to get worried or not to check CIC several times a day, but I guess we just need to be patient and hope for the best.

How long to get PPR roughly? Medicals were passed yesterday so we have everything submitted!

We have a similar timeline actually
Im Outland US and we got SA march third as well. Our application was received FEB 6. And AOR1 FEB 23. We have medicals done though since we submitted it ahead of time.
I've called and have been told the exact same thing only that the issue is that there is a back log. I've been worried too, but it sounds like the exact same scenario.
I've seen American s get processed in 4-6 months. But we're on the fourth month now with nothing new :( the man on the phone said its on its way to Ottawa though.. just back logged.

4 months and still not transferred to Ottawa?

Hi everyone :)

I am a Canadian citizen living in the US (non-immigrant status) with my common-law partner. Just a couple of questions:
1. We plan on supplying proof of our joint bank account. do we need to go to the bank to get something specific? or is a photo copy of our online profile sufficient enough?
2. there is also another box on the document checklist that asks for "Documentary evidence of financial support between you and your sponsor, and/or shared expenses". Could somebody provide some examples of this?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

We submitted our spousal app on Feb 8th and we got notice April 12 that Ottawa had our application. From what different forums are saying, the webform had a lot of glitches and wasn't accepting uploads and not releasing requests for documents. I think it's just a waiting game as they sort themselves out along the way.

[Update: I found the answer to this on another thread and posting it below my question in case anyone searching needs the answer!]

This is actually a qu. about the visitor extension app though I'm also working on PR and maybe it's the same-

If I need to attach an extra page- in this case, the employment history section of the app is not long enough- how do I do this? I understand for supporting docs how to add them all into one pdf but for a CIC form (specifically IMM5708) how do I add this? The little paperclip doesn't give me an option.

Also- if I'm adding extra info (ex. employment history) does it have to be on a 2nd page of the CIC form or can I just add the extra info on a word doc?

Answer: You can add the extra info on the Letter of Explanation section; you do not have to attach extra pages to the actual form. Any extra pages should have name, DOB, and a UCI (if you have one). If you are adding more than one thing to the L.O.E. section, (ex. employment history, explanation letter, etc) add a cover letter saying what it's including. Then combine it all into one doc.

How long is it taking for background to to go to in process after meds are complete or after aor2?

somewhat worried that our application's eligibility portion is being processed in Mississauga, but I honestly think it's because they're so back logged right now that any and all VOs are just helping where they can
I've seen some people stuck in Mississauga getting their BGC done.
thoughts?

I hope I'm right.
I've heard of all the VOs doing things that they don't normally do recently..

We used the old kit with the medical submitted upfront. Our background check started within about a week of the file transfer. That was in March. We got DM the beginning of June.
