I boarded in Philly where they just checked my passport. I didn't show them my CoPR, I didn't think they needed to see it. It was just an airport worker checking passports. The first border agent to check my passport was in the Halifax airport where I landed and he didn't seem to care at all. But really, at that point, his only option would have been to turn me around and send me back to the US when I legally had every right to be in Canada as a PR or even just as a US visitor. Right?!?
he can't turn you around for not having your PR card. like you said, you have every right to enter canada now, so at worst you'd get a cranky officer yelling at you.

i'm wondering if scanning the passport and verifying your status through a COPR is what triggered it? you don't need to present your passport when you have the PR card. They only want to see the PR card. very strange.

I'm sure they would've had to have been in a real sour mood to actually deny you entry. Your PR card is your "right" to be in Canada and since you didn't have it yet, your CoPR is your "right", for land crossing. You're supposed to apply for a permanent record travel document, for any commercial crossing if you don't have your PR card yet/are renewing it/etc. Maybe since you hold an American passport, the border agents didn't even care or notice that you're actually a Canadian PR now.

Yea I'm guessing it was scanning the passport to verify PR that triggered the email. Also it was the middle of the night and he probably would have had to jump through some serious hoops to turn me around. I'm guessing my US passport helps in the situation. Anyway, I have my PR card now, so it's no issue! Thanks to both of you!

Scanning your foreign passport, instead of a PR Card, usually means that you have to see a primary officer...because it `confuses' their system.

Also, the email that you received has been received by most (if not all) 2016 PR recipients.

My husband and I were married at a courthouse in February, 2016. We had about 25 people there with us. The ceremony was followed by a small reception. We wanted to get a start on the immigration process, how ironic that 9 months later and we are still working on it... ???
In August we had a larger reception with over 180 people in attendance (we're both Italian and our families really pushed for this). I wasn't going to include any of the second reception information - do you think I should? Ugh. I feel like I have enough proof to file now, but I just don't want to look like I'm hiding anything.

yes, i would mention it in the application. there is a question specific to a reception, isn't there? i'd recommend mentioning both. For "proof" you really don't need much. all i did was do a 1 page write up of when/where it was, what vendors were used, who attended then just added a receipt or two to my pile of proof.

Just get it done, make sure it's complete and you have all the info/medical upfront. Adding pictures of the 2nd reception is fine. The longer you wait on this, the more stressful it is, better to just get it over with!

Hi fellow Ottawa VO applicants! Did any of you receive an actual AOR2 email from the Ottawa VO once your application was transferred after SA approval? Just trying to gauge what to expect after the application is transferred.

Hi, pretty positive Ottawa does not do AOR2 emails. I haven't seen anyone on here get one yet. After SA approval, on ECAS it will say under the PA that your application is in process after xxx date. I believe that is what everyone everyone uses as their "AOR2".

after sponsor approval, the application sits in queue until it is picked up for processing. the applicant will then either receive a document request, interview request (highly rare) and/or a passport request. not all us applicants get passport requests. after the passport request (if received), the COPR (confirmation of permanent residence) is mailed to the applicant in the address listed in the application. if there is no passport request, generally the only communication the applicant receives is the COPR in regular mail. there will not be any notification about approval otherwise. it's currently taking 4.5-6 months total time for us applicants to receive their COPR. don't expect to hear anything until closer to the end of the timeline.

How does everyone receive AOR? I just mailed in my application and I was wondering how I would know if SA and AOR happened.

I (the sponsor) received an email saying that they have received my application.
