Can you send in money orders? You can get money orders in US$ at Canada Post. What about using a debit card?

Hi,

Congrats for getting ur visa stamped. I have a doubt. I filed my visa on 4/11/2015 and was received by CIC by 24/11/2015. I got AOR1 as well. I will be submitting my medicals probably by 30/april/2016. Till now I haven't received medical request from CIC. Do you think there could be delay in getting my Aor2 and my PPR ? is thr any other view u have on submitting medicals after filing the papers, like how I have done.
Your views will be much appriciated.

Have a happy Journey!!

Thanks :)

I was just at Bank of Montreal and they can set up a dual account with Harris Bank in the US.

I just have a couple of questions about eCAS updates.

Right not eCAS shows "In process" for the sponsorship application and "Application received" for the PR application.

My husband never got an eMail for SA, but when he called on Tuesday they said it'd been approved on the 21st of April.

I got an email from Ottawa yesterday asking for my FBI clearance.

My questions are - is it normal for this stuff not to show up in eCAS and 2. Do they usually ask for the FBI clearance that fast? I thought they didn't do that until they were looking at/processing the file.

Thanks!
I'm not sure, but my sponsor and I had the exact same thing happen - SA on April 21 and an email on April 27th requesting FBI check and IMM5409 (did you send that in/did they request it if you didn't as well?) We replied with the forms and got an automated message back. I've never heard of them asking that quickly either so I'm confused.

US companies won't recognize Canadian debit cards online, the routing and banking numbers have different amount of digits. Annoying!

i did not know about USD money orders at canada post, so that will be my next idea! thanks!

that's interesting. i wonder if they can do the same for Bank of America. I will have to go to BMO and ask. Thanks for the idea!

Oh I didn't know that. What about a credit card? I have used a Canadian credit card for online payments.
Also, I think in Canada you can open a "US" bank account. I haven't checked into it, but was told about it. You could have the US account and pay your bills from there by check or maybe debit.

Yeah, I had to get a money order in US$ and I went to Canada Post. So, that might be a good route for you to go.

RBC has branches in the States. RBC is the bank we use in Canada and while it's not our primary bank here in the States, we have an account set up because it makes paying certain things easier. It also allows us to transfer money seamlessly.

I'm paying bills that can't be paid by credit card. also a lot of the us online pay accounts won't accept canadian billing addresses, so it makes it difficult to pay with canadian credit cards. i have a borderless plan with TD that is a joke and this is part of the reason i'm seeking out new ways to pay bills (it takes 2 weeks for payments to go through and it's not paying correctly). in the settlement board, someone said there is another acct with TD that works better, so i will have to see if that's true.

thanks! i will have to check them out too! im looking for a way to deposit us cash and pay bills while in canada, so we will see if RBC does that. The main issue is the routing and checking numbers are different in canada and the us, so I can't set up bill payments through a CANADIAN account on the websites for my us bills.

do you mind me asking how much they charge in fees for that? this seems to be what they do when i initiate a payment online (cut a us check and mail it), except it takes 2 weeks to get paid, and one of my bills doesn't get paid properly. if it doesn't cost too much to get the check cut instantly, it could be a good option! i will just need to open a us td bank account, although i'm wondering now if my borderless plan will allow me to do that. hmmm.... interesting.

I don't get charged anything but it could be because I'm linked to my husbands account and he has the top account you can have at TD.
I would ask TD, my husband says it's the border less account that I have checks cut from, but he also has an infinite account, for his Canadian account which has no fees.

That's crazy! I live just a few blocks from a branch so it's easy to swing by for me.
Good luck! Now that I'm a PR and got rid of my US healthcare I no longer have to mail checks to the US but I'll keep my US account with them.
