This whole process is really causing a ton of anxiety. I applied Jan 2014 and finally just received an in process July 3rd. My open work permit finished July 6th (I've applied for a visitor's extension but haven't heard back about that yet). They had to ask me for more information regarding my ability to support myself and I guess that's why my application is so delayed. It's now been 19 months with a 14 month time estimate.

Does anyone know if "in process" is a good sign or is it just a status change?
In process is a good sign. They're looking at the application and assessing it. If everything is in order, your status will change to Decision Made (DM) soon, depending on what visa office you're with.

Thanks! This is what I was hoping. Can't wait to start life again without the whole worry and stagnation to life this has caused.

Can someone let me know if the AOR will come to my wife by mail or by email. Thank you
For the approval of the sponsorship, both the AOR from Mississauga and the eventual SA will go to the sponsor, not the applicant who is seeking to become a permanent resident.

They don't really give you an "Acknowledgement of Receipt" anymore. It is advisable when you send in your application to track it via your post service so that you know that someone has signed for it at the Immigration office. The only "confirmation" that you'll get that the process has really started is when you get the SA. That comes by email to the sponsor & you'll get your UCI number at that time. :)
This whole process is a lesson in patience...just hang in there.
Recent applicants have been receiving AOR from Mississauga for the sponsorship approval portion of the process. CPC-Ottawa does not seem to send out AOR2 for the actual application for permanent residency.

Looks like lot of November applicants are starting to get landing documents. I am a April 2 2015 applicant. Hope to hear good news in three months. Do you guys agree Ottawa will be caught up in three months?

Congrats to everyone landing already! I'm not sure I understand how exactly some of these applications have been processed in 9 months or under. Is that normal that it varies so widely?

Here I am still waiting after 19 months (with finally an update last week). Processing is being done at CPC-Ottawa as an outland US application.

Congratulations to both of you! My DM timeline is similar, so fingers crossed that there are no odd delays between printing and Canada post.

Nineteen months definitely seems like an absurdly long amount of time, but who knows what goes on over at CPC-O. They could have lost a chunk of your application and found it later, or maybe they thought something was a red flag but it wasn't, etc. However, on the CIC site, CPC-O is listed as only taking 16 months, and you're definitely over that time. Taken from the site:

If it has been longer than the time shown above since you applied and your visa office has not contacted you, you may wish to contact the visa office that is processing your application. The Call Centre does not have information about applications processed outside Canada.

You can ask them about it here: https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx?_ga=1.230788127.1825407350.1434763406

But since you've changed to In Process it should be okay. If there are any documents missing or an interview needed, they'll let you know. If they don't request anything like that from you, your application will almost certainly be approved.

Yeah, I don't know why it is taking so long. They asked me about my financials in October and I put together 5 years of employment history. I could see a 2 month delay but this seems excessive. I did contact their office in May and they sent me a reply that said they couldn't comment on timing and I'd submitted everything necessary. I really hope the wait is over. We've been living together since 2010 and married since mid-2011. I was a student and then on an open work permit from graduation.
