They received my application on January 4th via courier, and signed for. The only update is Signed and left at mail room via the UPS tracking/website. I tried to link with Name/DOB/Passport Info but the CIC website shows no applications found. How long does it usually take before you get the email with application/receipt number or confirmation so I can link?

it can take weeks to get the AOR currently, i believe. for some it can take longer. you may be able to link the application then, or you may have to wait until after SA is approved. it's not very consistent. At this point, the only thing that can be done is to wait. the sponsor will receive the AOR and SA soon enough.

That is great news!! Yay. About the spreadsheet - I have not updated it yet as I have only received DM on ECAS thus far. I will update when I get further information.

Thanks! My wife and I used the new forms. I (applicant) already had my FBI History Check completed and my medicals as well. We're hoping by including all of this in the application the waiting process won't be too long.

I read that US Outland applicants are in reality 4-6 month waiting period right now, for the most part - is this true?

yes, us outland applicants have been consistently approved in 6 mo. or less for quite some time now. however, with the new package and processing initiative, it is unknown if ottawa will keep this pace moving forward. all we can do is hope for the best!

Okay I am able to link my application online but they're requesting another form 5669, the background/schedule A. I included this with my application, why do they want it again?

that is highly unlikely. Ottawa is currently one of the fastest visa offices already. 4-6 months is nothing compared to what others face. if they are striving for within 12 months for everyone, i doubt ottawa will process quicker than it already is.

this is a common request. it can be for a variety of reasons. there could be gaps in dates or not enough provided (sending information for 10 years vs. since the age of 18), or it could be an old version of the form. it's best to comply with the request.

Looking at the new kit, this wasn't on the checklist. This is one of the things you're supposed to provide after mailing the application. The guide mentions uploading a copy.

yes, it seems to be part of the new process, so you need to submit it again:

Submit your Schedule A – Background / Declaration (IMM 5669)

View form IMM 5669 (PDF, 399.68 KB)

All applicants over the age of 18 and all principal applicants (including a dependent child under the age of 18) must upload a validated electronic copy of this form within 30 days from the date of the acknowledgement email or letter.

To speed up processing and avoid delays, we strongly recommend that you:

fill out this form electronically while waiting for your acknowledgement of receipt
make sure the form is validated
save a validated copy so it’s ready to upload to your online account as soon as you link your application
Important: When you are completing your personal history, don’t leave any gaps in time. Pay close attention to questions 6 and 9. Gaps in time will cause delays in processing because we will ask you to re-submit a new form. Your application can only be processed accordingly with your response and will be assessed based on the information you provide.

Well, hopefully it doesn't increase!

Hey there! I received the same exact request, also having originally provided a lease, letters from family and friends, joint renters insurance - and also no joint banking (I did send evidence of money transfers, explained how we do our financial splitting, etc).

When prompted for more info (I got this request right before Christmas), I provided our lease renewal, joint insurance renewal, additional evidence of financial splitting and some emails demonstrating our joint responsibility for household items (appliances were broken, we both were in touch with our landlord & vendors to fix this). I'm assuming it's a pretty standard thing to ask. On that day, my file was updated to show that medicals were passed and background check is in process, no news since but I'll keep this thread posted on when that moves.
For common-law it's a bit more common, but definitely not for married people at least under the old system.
