I just received my husband’s gcms notes today...some are good some are bad... when does the fbi expire? Cause I really am concerned as my husband’s criminal check hasn’t even started yet...it still says “In progress” They assumed my husband’s nephews and niece are his on the grounds that we have a lot of pictures together, so they were requesting additional documents for them to be added in his application. OMG. how in the world would you just assume that? SIGH!!!

The FBI checks don't expire, so don't worry about that. The criminal check that they do is for other stuff and the date of the FBI check has nothing to do with that.

i thought it was just 6 months? I feel good that everything was all good though... his medical passed.Our relationship they say is genuine... so yeah... just waiting for what they need to know or whatever...

No, it only has to be issued after the last time you lived in that country.

Has to be rec'd within 6 months of issue or can't be over 6 months old... And CIC will tell you if its expired or not...we had to provide a second FBI check after 17 months

Well, it's more progress... can't remember, but the interview is done now too, right? If I'm remembering that correctly, I can't imagine it's going to be that much longer.

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the forum.
My husband is Canadian and I am a US Citizen. We have been married since 2009 and living in the US. We are looking at immigration to Canada and I'm wondering if those processing times are really accurate? It looks like a lot of people are getting processed in much less time than the CIC website says for Ottawa (it says 17 months with dependent children). I am also eager to start looking for work up there and wondering when I should do that and if a company would be willing or able to hire me without having the process completed (with a temporary work visa maybe?). The deal is that we need to get out of where we are living as soon as we are able. I appreciate any tips or insight you might have - conventional or otherwise

How come some people have medical received on line 4?

Mine is line 3 as well. Some people got extra lines for doc requests. I got two doc requests, but they never put it on ecas. I think it just depends on your visa officer.

Interview completed and were advised that if medical had been reviewed visa would have been issued right there and then... We were told we should have it by the end of November ...but we have learned that if its not in hand it means nothing!

I'm stressed as hell, went to the border today to try to export my car US ---> Canada but they wouldn't let me because it has to be in the US for 72 hours first?? So I literally have to dump my car in a parking lot somewhere in Buffalo and pray it doesn't get towed/stolen and now harass all my friends for a ride to work for the next several days. Never thought this part of the process would be the most stressful, yet here we are -_-

Not sure if you went through with this already or not. But the 72 hours line is not true.

They need to have your paperwork (VIN and Export number) for 72 hours before you want to go through the border. Same thing happened to me and after chatting with the officer on the way out he said I didn't need to actually wait and that I could have just emailed the paperwork to their border office ahead of time...
