Has anyone landed and then went back for their belongings soon after?
If so was it an issue?

If you choose to bring them after your landing, you need to declare them on a "Goods to Follow" form, I believe, to avoid the duty taxes.

Hi there!

We (husband is Canadian, living in Calgary, I'm American, living in NY) applied in December 2013 and the decision was made on July 12, 2013 by the Ottawa office. We're still waiting for the COPR in the mail from them. How long have other people waited for the COPR? We're just getting antsy :) Thanks so much!

I hear it can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to get COPR in the mail to a US address. Decision Made may have been July 12, but when it gets mailed out will be a few days later.

I do wish they mailed it out so that it is traceable. We already pay up to a grand in fees when all is said and done. i don't mind paying a few extra buck for expresspost!

Oh me too!! I'd gladly pay more to have it traceable. Alright, along those timelines, it should be arriving any day now. The husband just bought a house in Calgary and we close on Aug 15: we're really hoping I'm there for the closing date, but that seems to be quickly slipping by!

Yeah, it should be any day now. If it doesn't show up soon, I'd e-mail ottawa and ask what date it got mailed out.

*SIGH*

I sent my application to my hubby in Fredericton for him to add his forms and then send it off for processing. We were going over the application last night before the final mailing today and we just noticed that IMM 0008 was just updated in late July. This had to of been updated in the last few weeks as I was checking to make sure we had recent forms when I was completing everything. The forms I printed and signed in were from the April 2013 update, so what was signed was the most current at the time.

Do you think they will reject the April form? He is going to call the CIC and ask, but then I worry about getting bad information from their Customer Service. Has anyone had a bad experience with information from the CIC Help line?

Sorry if this sounds neurotic to worry about this, but after spending so much time and energy on the application I am just trying to get feedback to know what to possibly expect. My FBI background check expires at the end of the month so am just nervous this close to the wire.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Taking deep breaths.. lol

Thanks! :-)

I wouldn't worry too much. Your case is common. One of my forms I recall was a bit outdated and didn't cause any issues. A few weeks is not a big deal. CIC must understand that many people print out forms and work on it for months. In some countries, they don't have access to downloads so they have to get paper copies mailed to them or pick them up from a local visa office and those are often a year old.

You can call up the call centre if you wish. In terms of experience, I find them friendly and willing to help, but is just good for general questions. But yours is a general question that they should be able to answer. And I'm pretty sure they will say it is not a problem.

Typically CIC will request an updated form, not flat out rejection. If it will put your mind at east, you can mail in updated copies ahead of time. I would check the current forms though. If they haven't been updated since April, there's no need to worry.

Thank you! That is a relief to hear. Jason (hubby) called CIC and explained the situation. The rep spoke with their supervisor and said while they prefer to get the newer form, to send the April form with a letter of explanation on the FBI check being time sensitive and there shouldn't be a problem. I just told Jason to make sure to include the rep's ID and details of the conversation.

IMM 0008 was the only form we found to be updated since April thankfully.

WHEW! lol

Since I know which form it is - here is something else you can do...

Wait until after Sponsor Approval, say about 1 month. Then email Ottawa, ask to confirm your application is there and tell them you need to mail in a new IMM0008. Hopefully they will respond and you can mail in the form with a short note.

I did that, but with my Schedule A because I forgot to declare my rejected study permit.... (>.>). After two weeks, I emailed them to ask for confirmation they got the new form (I faxed mine) and they replied a week later to confirm.

My note was because - I made a boo-boo and here's what happened with my study permit. (Mt. Royal University staff needs some training.)

excellent advice! I emailed myself a copy of your advice and will contact them after Spousal Approval and see if they will require it or not. Maybe they'll say "No John, and since you hold the doors for people and are a very nice and courteous guy in general we just approved the application right away". lol yeah right

Hey! You never know. I'm very boring and fairly nice and I was done rather quickly..........

A lot of it is luck of the draw with your IO too. Like in all jobs, some employees are harder workers and more efficient than others.
