Yes, thought we'd get the application out sooner but holidays got in the way :)

And I can add you to the Ottawa spreadsheet if you like.

Hey guys
I just checked my ecas this morning after reading some more recent comments, and mine says 'application received' but not 'medicals received'. We got sponsorship approval back in the begining of Nov. and the medicals were completed in Aug. Should I be concerned about the medicals not showing up?

I may be totally off base here but ifCIC is working on the new system (GCMS) and its migration from CAIPS and FOSS then this may be the cause all of the update and de-update issues. I even checked the CIC website a few days back and most of the processing timeframes by visa office were gone, only a few had the number of months, the rest had dashes in them. A couple of hours later they were back.

Please do :)

Hi everyone, I am sponsoring my common-law husband from the US. At the time of our application, my husband did not have a passport so we gave his driver's licence information as his travel document. Since then, he has now obtained a passport from the US. Should I e-mail CPP-O with a copy of his passport? thank you for your help.

Yes.

Make sure you include your file number and your and your husband's names

Ok. Thanks. one more question. My husband's medical will expire in May. Should I ask them if I need to make arrangements to have it re-done? Hopefully his dependent, who is no longer a dependent as he turned 22 on Jan. 14th and who is not accompanying him to Canada, won't have to re-do it as well. thanks again. The information we get from people like you out of this forum is absolutely invaluable :)

I wouldn't at this point... CIC can, and quite often does, extend medicals if they expire before COPR is issued. Just wait and see if they run out before your file is process, and then if they need them, they will request that they be redone. But it is likely they will extend..

You can ask, yes. But they will probably just extend it without telling you anything. They never told us that my husband's medical has been extended until we actually got the COPR in hand and it showed that the COPR would expire Dec 2013 (not a typo haha)

Does it really take 16-18 weeks to get a background check done in the US?? If so, would everyone recommend I just send in his papers and once the background check comes send it in?

It takes UP TO 16-18 weeks. Ours took 12 weeks. I honestly would wait for it to get in, then there won't be any delays. But that's just my opinion. You can send it without it, but it may cause delays, OR it might get sent back to you as incomplete.

Yes, I agree with Parker... wait for it and send with the application or you risk having the whole application returned to you as "incomplete". We just did our FBI check in October and it took about 5 weeks.

Boo, they requested another document that I thought was in there. At least they have kept the file!

That'll be overnighted this week. How long does that usually delay first stage processing? I was only missing one form.

Even scarier, a few people have sent in the application then the FBI check later, and had CRC lose the FBI check, having to spend another 4 months getting another one!
IMO, it is too risky, but I do understand that 4 months is a long time :(

ok good to know thanks everyone!

Now my situation is that my husband is an American citizen and is here and his son is in the US and he will be coming here too. I am going to do the outland application but my cousin who just did hers for her Jamaican husband keeps telling me I cannot do the outland application and I will get denied. My husband is applying for his extension of stay shortly. We are in the process of getting letters, photos and medicals done but I'm so confused now. Am I eligible to do the outland application??

Ok so with that being said. My husband is here and his stamp on his passport say march 2013. Now my husband is applying for an extension of stay what happens then? Cause obviously we need to wait 4 months til the check is done. Frustration is starting to arise sigh
