Hi @Arpana31, could you please clarify if we need to wait for the actual physical driver's license that comes in the mail and then take a copy of that and submit in PR update application
OR
The temp thing that they give immediately in service ontario is sufficient for the PR name update application?

I don't know the answer but unless it's urgent I'd suggest waiting for the proper driver's license to avoid any issues. (The problem with the temporary one is it's only a complete driver's license together with the old one).
Note of course that I believe in all cases they mean to submit copies of the original unless otherwise specified.
Applied to update PR Card with all necessary supporting name change documents including Passport, Driver's License, Health Card, Marriage Certificate. It's been 4 months now with no updates, no responses for Webforms. She's able to travel in and out with her current PR without any problem but would be great if IRCC send the updated PR Card so all the documents are in sync. :/
Hey, did you end up getting the updated PR Card? I have a similar situation with my PR card and I'm going to apply to update the card with the new name. In the application, IRCC asks to send a copy fo the current PR card if my renewing my card or a photo of my destroyed PR card if I'm replacing my current PR card? I was confused by this. Did you have to destroy the PR card to get the name change processed for the PR card? Thanks!
Hi, yes we got the PR card with name change within 5 months of applying at that time until then we were able to use the old PR card without any issues so don't destroy the old one as you will need it if you have travel plans while you are waiting for the updated PR card with new name. After you get the new PR card, you can then destroy the old one.

Which name will be used for buying the plane ticket? ABC or ABC XYZ? Are you returning to Canada directly by flight?
I still need to book flights , I believe the name on passport should be used to book flight , so ABC XYZ
This is actually EXTREMELY useful information to others - I haven't heard specifically of how IRCC treats 'single name' holders who marry and then wish to adopt their spouse's name.
Please keep others apprised of how it goes.
As for travel: yes, you could have troubles - returning to Canada, potentially, if not leaving and entering India. The basic issue is that they will wish to know that you-are-you and that XXX FIRSTNAMESINGLENAME is the same person as FIRSTNAMESINGLENAME MARRIEDNAME. (Where XXX is the blank field in some Canadian docs for those with a single name, since Canada records single-names as family names.
All I can suggest is: when you travel, take EVERYTHING with you that shows that you have applied to change your name and any and all docs that show you have applied for a change of name and etc. Honestly you might want to consult a lawyer - perhaps they would have a suggestion of how to 'show' that you are you in a way that IRCC and CBSA will accept. And also docs from your landing etc, everything you have that shows that you (singlename) are the same person as in your Indian passport.
I don't mean to freak you out - it's quite possible this will all go very smoothly and no-one will ask for anything except to eg see your PR card and driver's license. I just don't know.
