TRV Application inside Canada Delay, but I have vacation at the end of June

Hi,

I applied for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) inside Canada after receiving my new Study Permit (my old one is for secondary school) on April 8th, 2025. It has been more than a month since I submitted my application, and I haven't been approved. Meanwhile, my mom and my sister, who applied last year, were approved around 2 weeks (they are not apply at the same time). I will have a trip, almost 2 months, going back to my country at the end of June so I'm afraid that I will not be approved on time and I may have to cancel my trip.

Does anyone have any advice for this situation? I really appreciate.

Unfortunately there's really nothing you can do but wait. There is no way to expedite processing. Even if the TRV is not available in time, you could always still go on the trip and then get your visa stamped once it's approved outside of Canada. Of course that depends on how comfortable you are leaving Canada without an approved TRV.

Thank you for your help , I'm just worried that the shipping time for passport might take a long time. My mom had to wait more than a month to ship and receive her passport because of Canada Post strike. I have also heard that Canada Post may have another strike this May, I'm hoping that it wont happen.

You're right about this. It can also take time to get the passport stamp and if Canada Post goes on strike this could delay the delivery and/or return of your passport. How long do you plan to be in your home country?

About 2 months and I also booked tickets, but I hope I can cancel it

Processing even without a strike can take multiple weeks. As previously noted you can request stamping outside of Canada if you go on your trip and are approved while abroad. You may still run into processing delays outside Canada.

The conditions and class of your ticket will tell you if it can be cancelled or not. If you aren't certain, call the airline.

I don't know if two months in your home county is enough time for the visa to be processed and to get the visa stamp. It may or it may not be. Unfortunately there is no clear answer to that.
