Need advice for TRV in case of immigration agent interview.

Hi everyone,
I submitted a TRV application in Nov 1st 2024 which is still in progress. On tracker illegibility, biometrics, and background check are completed. So hopefully, I will hear soon from IRCC to get passport stamped.
My spouse and my children have been PR since July 2022. I didn't accompany them because of professional matters.
This year, I intend to rejoin them. I have been advised to move to Canada first with a TRV then to submit an inland spouse sponsorship application.
My question is regarding the interview with immigration agent at airport. I heard lately that some people have been denied entry to Canada because immigration agent estimated that this person won't leave Canada at the end of their legal temporary stay.
In my case, do you guys think I should tell the agent that I have a dual intent and wether my intended sponsorship application is accepted or not will determine if I am leaving Canada at the end of my legal temporary resident status of six months?
Or should I just tell him I am here to visit my family without talking about sponsorship plan ?

Not sure where you got your information but agents will know your spouse and children are in Canada as PRs so don't lie.

If asked you answer the question truthfully. Your first hurdle is getting a TRV when all your family is in Canada, and you should be applying outland. Not sure why you haven't started the outland process as chance of TRV refusal is high.

In Sep 2024 my wife called IRCC and explained our situation to an agent that told her to first get me to Canada with a TRV to accelerate family reunification and then submit an inland spouse sponsorship application.

In Sep 2024 my wife called IRCC and explained our situation to an agent that told her to first get me to Canada with a TRV to accelerate family reunification and then submit an inland spouse sponsorship application.

She talked to call centre agents who give poor advice. Could have applied in September 2024 and been close to approval. Inland processing is now 29 months while outland is 10 months. You could have applied outland and then applied for TRV. There is no acceleration of family unification. Without sponsorship underway, for TRV you need to ties to return and you don't as you have no plans to leave.

Actually, the processing time for family sponsorship is 36 months as my wife is in Quebec.
So, I suppose I just have to cross fingers in hope of a TRV approval.

You should have applied a long time ago. You would want AOR before applying for TRV again. So at this point wait to see if TRV is approved. Where are you applying from?

Well processing is generally around 18 days so assume you were in the military or being held up because spouse and children are PRs. Get advice from a lawyer on next steps but should be applying Outland and as mentioned could have done it months ago. Could be PR by now.

The process took so long because of military background. However, on May 7th ircc asked for further information that I submitted the same day. On the 14th background security was labeled "completed"on tracker.

There is still a high chance of refusal because you are not a genuine visitor. The IRCC call centre can’t actually provide advice about your immigration options. If you need advice you should speak to an immigration lawyer or consultant. How did your wife and children obtain PR?
