A BOWP is valid for 12 months.

Thanks iam_toby!
I am a NOV 2013 applicant and working in Quebec. I heard about the rejection of CEC cases from Quebec. I am waiting for my Medicals hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks, but not sure if my CEC case will be rejected because of Quebec province. I am confused if I have to apply for BOWP (my WP expires 30th Sept 2014) or extend my current WP. Any advice...

You should get your application approved before September. I would wait until beginning of August or so and if
you don't hear back from CIC by then, apply for the BOWP.
Your case will not automatically be rejected, as long as you don't intend to live in Quebec after you become a PR
and if you can prove to CIC that this is the case, you should be fine.

Any suggestions on how should I prove that I don't intend to live Quebec. The same has already been mentioned in the CEC application.
As of now I am applying for jobs in other provinces and I have a work permit which expire soon. I do not have any holdings in Quebec as I just came for work. Any suggestions.....

My husband and I applied for bowp by online on Apr. 30th. 2014. We got approved on May 21st. Still waiting for the Visa paper. I think it takes longer time for us than others.

Applied for BOWP on 21th May in online....when I can get back it anyone have any idea?

Hello,

I have a pending PR application (inland) through PNP since Dec.2013. Ive passed my medical results last Feb.2014 but to date, i havent heard anything yet from Cic. It seems like CIC is taking so much time in approving PRs recently. My work permit will expire this November 2014. Do you guys think it would be worth for me to apply for BOWP this July?even though I think my PR application will be approved this July ot August. :)

Apologies if I missed this, I tried reading through every page but couldn't find a more detailed answer :(

Is the length of the BOWP based on a year from when you applied for it, or is it a year after when your current work permit expires?

For example... if I applied now in June, but my current work permit is up to expire in September, would my BOWP be a year from June or September?

Thank you!!!

"The WP is to be valid for the duration of one year from the date of issuance. Subsequent requests from applicants to extend their stay on an open WP will be considered on a case-by-case basis."

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2013/ob485A.asp

This means if they process your BOWP application in June, then it will be valid from June 2014 to June 2015, NOT from the end of your existing work permit.

Hi,

Need your advise.

My OWP is expiring on November 5 2014.

Currently my application for PR is in process, I have got my AOR as well as request to pay RPRF fee from Immigration Canada.

When should I apply for BOWP?

Shall i wait till OCt to apply for BOWP? as it is one year validity it will be valid till OCt 2015, or shall I apply for BOWP now, and if I do so can I still get my BOWP validity till Oct 2015?

Hi,

Same situation here, my work permit will expire on Nov.15,2014.
My PR application(inland via AINP ) is still pending. I am hoping to get positive news by August. If not, im considering to apply for BOWP then. Keep in touch!

So My work permit is expiring in a Month :( and i haven't heard back from cic regarding my file .I was wondering :o that what is the deadline to apply for BOWP.

I am planning to go for paper application as it will buy me some time. :)

Basically i wanted to know that whether we should dispatch our application before our work permit expires :-X or our application should reach them before our status expires? :-\

I am applying for BOWP (currently on WP, AOR for CEC received in Jan 2014) as my visa expiring the end of Sept 2014. I am not taking extension from my current employer.

Could anyone let me know the answer for Q.No: 3 of application form IMM 5710. Its urgent as I have to apply tonight...please ......anyone respond.

What should I say if I have to apply for bridging open work permit---

(1) A work permit with the same employer
(2) An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer
(3) Restoration of your status as a worker
(4) Temporary Resident Permit

You should apply in at most 4 months before (or within 4 months) of your WP's expiry date.

Please stop double-posting the same question. That's the third time I've read this question and it has already been answered.
