Excellent point!!

I wonder if the interview issue was a consideration... best case scenario, there will be no more interviews... At least in FSW I haven't heard about any interviews for a long while... a sign of things to come? ? ? ?

Wow... considering the processing time for 80% of cases is 25 months in Guatemala and 12 months in Mexico, I'd say this is good news...!?

We sent our package to Mississauga at the beginning of August... I'm guessing our file will be going to Mexico once the sponsorship approval comes in (probably not for another month or 2).

So if I send in my application after Sept. 01, 2012 should I keep in mind the Guatemala Office processing time or the Mexico Office processing time?

That's the golden question... I'd assume the Mexico processing time, keeping in mind it may go up from what is posted due to increased load.

Unless they move Some Visa officers from Guatemala to Mexico or increase the the Mexico City Staff , Otherwise the processing time will increase for sure, but less than 25 months. Still good news

I just received my sponsorship approval, and indeed our file is being sent to Mexico. I'm just hoping that A) it's faster B) we won't need an interview and C) that they manage to keep track of my husband's medical! (it was sent to Guate.)

Hey Guys,

Its been a while, but here is a quick update of my situation... Back on July I sent to Guatemala my Passport, finger prints and a prepay way bill... I contacted them to see how long the finger prints would take and they said up to 5 months... My wife got in contact with our MP in Canada ( they can have direct asses to your file and inquire about the process on your behave) and he contacted Immigration... Here is where I stand... The MP said that immigrations reviews cases every 3 months to see for updates in documents and what not, he told us that most likely my finger prints were already received but they have not review them or update the case yet because they do it every 3 months... my next review date is October 25th and I'm hoping to get good news by them... However there was a also a bad news :( my medicals have expired, October 6 to be exact, Question??
Has anybody been in a similar position? if so, did they asked for new medicals? or do you think that since they have just expired that they could extend them a bit? and what about that 3 month period thing?

I'm replicating my post in the June 2012 thread: my file has been transferred to Mexico VO. We thought it was in Guatemala, but never received an AOR from that office. Instead, we received the AOR from Mexico via email today. I guess Mexico is now officially the visa office for Mexico and Central America.

Good luck to all.

Muchacha, same here! I'll follow your progress closely ;D

I'm anticipating a long process, just to get ready mentally for any surprise lying ahead. Good luck!

I was also anticipating a looooong wait (25 months for Guatemala!) but now with this new VO, I am hoping (praying!) it will be faster!

Just out of curiosity, did Mexico request any documents along with the AOR? Or did they mention what the next steps are? Seems like for Mexicans, they usually request police clearances etc at this stage, and then 6ish weeks later request the passport.

But for the rest of Central America, we've already sent in police clearances... I guess I was hoping that we would get to skip a step in their process.
