They requested your passport only a month after you applied? Even before you were approved as a sponsor? That's bazzar
They had requested our marriage certificate again because on the first xcopy there was a part they couldn't read. I think really, there is no standard with the Guatemala VO. People I know got it in 7 months, then I read on this forum that some have been waiting a couple years. Whether that's due to complications or mistakes from filling things out in their files, who knows. Hurry up Guatemala!!! I know that the Spanish cultures are slow and relaxed, but it's a Canadian embassy! Work at our pace!

Buena suerte para todos nosotros!

You said you know people that had an answer within 7 months? With the Embassy in Guatemala???

And yes, you are right, actually we've started the procedures in december of 2009 (in Canada) and I got accepted as a sponsort within 2 or 3 weeks, then sent the papers in the Quebec's government and also had an answer within a week and a half. So, on jan. 13 of 2010 they received the papers at the canadian embassy in Guatemala and, a month later, asked for the original wedding certificate, original birth certificate, more prooves, original passeport, criminal record of nicaragua + cuba. And this was our problem, actualy we didn't have to send the cuban's police certificate because I did a mistake while filling the papers, anyway, veryyyy long story!! So they only gave us an answer by september, asking for the cuban's police certificate + re-do the meds.

The problem is that we asked the cuban paper through the consulate in NIcaragua and have been waiting since 7 months now and still have no answer. So we did it by ourselves, looking for a cuban in La Habana to do it for us, we paid like 600$ to have this damn paper and we got it like 3 weeks ago and sent it to the embassy... now we are just waiting, I hope they' are gonna hurry because I'm alone with our 6 months son and he just got operated, anyway... so yeahhhhh I think that if it would not have been of that crappy paper he would be here by now :(

Yeah buena suerte, ojala se apuren ej!!!

I hope for you that it will be quick, but, as a matter of fact, they asked us the original certificate of marriage + original passeport + more prooves + a lot of other stuff in febuary of 2010 (we are in the procedures since jan. 2010), and then they did not check the papers before septembre 2010, asking us for another paper, so my husband had to re-do his medicals + re-do passeport (se iba a vencer en abril 2011), + send the damn paper they were asking us (we send everything 3 weeks ago), which means that they asked for the papers last year and we have been waiting for 15 months now and still no answer.. and we are married + we have a 6 months old baby!!! I'm in Canada now and he is in Nica, I had to stay cuz they had to operate our baby (anyway long story). Sooooooooooo I really wish that they will give you an answer quick, but just keep in mind that these guys are VERY slow so don't plan your life too much, just follow the rythm and cross the fingers!!!

Good luck though!
Wow it seems like you and I have almost the exact same situations! Keep me posted, let me know if u hear something please!

My VP told me that there was 2 persons working there, one is "lower" and one is on a "higer" level of decision. The first one is just there to receive the papers and get everything in order. If you need some more papers, he/she will be the one doing this job. When everything is there about your PR he/she gives it to the other who take the decision.

She also said that these people only have a 2 years contract. After that, they change person.

I know they are not Spanish in the Embassy....that's why they should work on Canadian time!

Yes, friends of mine, (Canadian wife, Costa Rican Husband) got his PRV 7 months after applying. He landed in September 2009 and they had filed for the first time in Feb. 2009.

Belize: I don't know! They have my husband's passport since april of 2010.... and still waiting!! So I don't know what to say...

Alex121: Yeah.... when you are with your husband/wife since a few years, they should understand that it's not for papers... and even more if you stayed in his/her country for a long long time!!!! I understand that winters are tricky in Canada but still, you don't get married in the south just to run away ahahha!!

Hey! Tomorrow's tuesday!! Check cic, maybe we have some good news... luck luck luck!

So my wife logged into her ecas and it said decision made on her pr!! It said they started processing on April 18, 2011. She got her ppr on the 14th of April, so I mean this has to be like miracle or something!! It has only been 4 months since we applied, it also says that they will contact her about the decision, I hope this means it's good news!

WOW Gary that seems pretty amazing, either they are getting faster or you don't have so much to clear, like no kids or previews marriages!

Great! ;D
