elokuu if you read a few posts back you will see that I mentioned in 2014 there have been 3 applicants who received the request for fingerprints, and 2 in 2015.

In the spreadsheet we record the request applicants receive so other applicants benefit.

Thanks, I've read every post in this thread for a couple of months now. Since this is a thread for outland applications, I wasn't quite sure if there were a lot of people actually living in Canada already who had NOT gotten that request. I'll go inspect the spreadsheet more closely.

Are the RCMP fingerprints a routine thing for applicants who have lived in Canada for a while? We did not include them in our application, and I've been here since the beginning of 2014 on a study permit. Should I just go get them done before they even request them, in order to not unnecessarily extend the processing time?

From what I can gather, no, it is not standard that they request them. In fact it seems to be totally random. Some people get asked and others don't, regardless of how long they have been in Canada. That said, it might be a new thing they are doing? Who knows? It is only $50, so I guess you could potentially just go and do it and send them and know you've done it. :) It's up to you. They expire after six months though. That's what they told me when I went to get mine done today.

Thanks so much Lucy! I just panicked a little when I read about people getting requests for the fingerprints, since we didn't include them and I don't really know if most others would have. I think I'll stand by for a while, and if it seems like everyone currently residing in Canada starts getting that request, I'll just get it done proactively myself.

Not sure what to do now, do we resend the emedical and receipt again and write that the exam has already been done? What do we do about the IMM 1017 form they sent us, it requires the physician to answer a few questions and sign it and also has space for a passport photo on the top.

Yes, respond to the email with the documents showing the medical was done and is still current. You could also raise a CSE regarding this since it's the second time they have requested it in error.

May 14th applicant - got the Ottawa office batch email Friday (Oct 23) requesting Intent to Reside, fees, medical etc. if that is helpful for the spreadsheet! :) Thanks!

Hi SwedenCanada,
I just got my fingerprints done here in Edmonton. They are sent immediately, electronically, to Ottawa. The address given on the letter is for police service centres that do not have the up-to-date machines that enable them to do this and they have to submit manually. But most places, especially if you are in a Canadian city, are able to send directly. Once they are received in Ottawa (immediately, usually same day you get your fingerprints done, depending what time of day you do it) then it will take 1-4 weeks for them to be reviewed and for the results to be mailed to you. They will be sent to your home address by regular mail. Once you receive them then you need to send the results to the address at the bottom of the letter you got by email from the visa office. ie: for London it is Immigration and Medical Services Division, High Commission of Canada, Canada House, Trafalgar Square, London, UK SW1Y 5BJ. Make sure you reference your UCI number and the initials of the person who emailed you (they are in the subject of your email) They also want you to send a copy of the letter they emailed you with the fingerprints results. I guess, overall, it could be more than a month before they receive the fingerprints in London, and who knows if they even open it right away and match it up with your application instantly - I have a feeling it may sit in a pile for at least a little while - but as long as the date you got your fingerprints done is within 30 days of receiving their request then you are good :) And hopefully this means good things for us - like that is all they need to finalise the application as it says on the letter. I think that sounds like we are pretty close to getting PR now!
Lets keep each other informed, and good luck :)
Fingers crossed for sooner rather than later...

Thanks for this Lucy. I had my done and sent on 15th Oct and was getting worried they'd gone into the paper system that takes 22 weeks. Although when I went to RCMP they did put the address off that letter into the machine... I'm in a small town west of Red Deer and they'd never done a request like this before so really hoping they did it right!!! :S
I've been here since March 2014 as visitor so guessing that's why I got asked?! Also read somewhere if someone has similar name and DOB on criminal system you get asked too?? Don't know how true that is??
Anyway be good to find out what happens with you too. Got everything crossed that this is a sign that the end is near... would be nice to have my pr before my twins are due in December but won't hold my breath!! Good luck :)

COPR arrived today!!! :D :D :D.
They've given us until 15/07/2016 to land. It seems a random date as it is related to neither our medical expiry date (Dec 2015) or passport (May 2025). On the letter it states 2 documents : IMM5688 (which is the COPR) and IMM5785, does anyone know what this number refers to?

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with income tax if you land with your COPR only to return back to the UK to continue work for a bit longer? My son is looking to land with the rest of the family but has some work commitments back in the UK. I understand that once landed in Canada he can return to the UK on the next plane if he likes, and after that, he only has an obligation to spend 2/5 years in Canada to maintain his residency.

But as he will not have a bank account, no SIN, no investments, living in the UK, and have no other financial ties to Canada, as a Permanent Resident, will he have any requirement to declare his UK earnings in Canada? From what I can see, he must have been living in Canada for 183+ days before he has to start paying taxes.

Congrats!! I hope mine comes today. The mail person hasn't been yet...

I wonder if mine has been sent from Ottawa or London as I am currently in Canada at the moment. If its coming from London I think its going to take a few extra days.

Also did it come in the regular mail or special delivery?

Thanks, will be sending it all through today.

Andrew-brit, not sure if this second also needs to be recorded in the spreadsheet.

Thanks! It came signed for, but we are in UK. I've heard that Canadian ones aren't always signed for, just regular post.

Hi mrsb, just wanted to say congrats on the twins! Hope all goes well in December. I am also pregnant, due date 3 weeks from now! Good luck with all things PR - Did they give you a receipt when you got your fingerprints done? At least that will prove the date you went in to do it. They gave me a receipt, although very basic, but I figured if there are any issues then at least I have that to reference/scan and email to the LVO if needed. Let's keep each other informed :)
