Okay, guys! Here's the Friday update for this week. :) I know it's a little bit early, but if any of you get an update this afternoon I'll be happy to add it in. We've had a lot of progress in the last week, so please make sure your information is correct. For Missinghim and Kulilit, I know that you haven't actually landed yet, and that is just the date of your Decision Made, but I'll update it when you do actually land. :)

Hi everyone! I received the AOR via email today. Our status in e-cas still hasn't changed, but I trust that will happen soon. Buffalo seems to be working quickly once they hit a group of applications.

Congratulations to all of the PPR and Landed folks! How exciting!!

Yay! Congrats, Karla. :) That's great news. My eCAS hasn't changed either... or, to be more accurate, my Sponsors eCAS hasn't changed, and I can't log in to mine.

I'll update your info right now.

so what is the next step for me? How do I get a notice AOR and what about my new born son? I am born in Canada so doesnt my son get my citizenship too? So what do I need to do now? I was planning on going to Vietnam in 2 weeks.

Yeah your son is a canadian citizen because you are.
I am not sure of the next step, something like applying for citizen certificate for him. There are other threads with more info and probably other people who can help you with this. Why don't you start a thread asking for advice on how to do this?
Sorry I can't help more!!

Once your AOR is received what's the next step PPR?

How are you notified or find out if your medical/FBI clearance has been received?

I'm on the same boat. I hope I can log into ecas soon.

Your son is not a canadian citizen technically until you apply for it. Call CIC and tell them you want to make an application for his citizenship. I also believe forms may be online. Once it's granted they will send you a citizenship card for him.

The forms are online...fill them out...follow instructions for backup documentation...$75.00 fee. Wait for card. Pretty straightforward. My son is doing this two daughters while he waits for his wifes PPR.

pinklady,

Sorry for delay in replying...I haven't been on in a few days.

We are looking at moving towards the end of the year. My husband will have to go over this summer sometime to get his passport stamped and apply for a PR card...and hopefully go to job interviews...oh and look for a place to live. His sister is getting married over here in the UK in November so we thought we would stay until then...instead of moving over to Canada in the summer and then having to fly back to the UK for the wedding in November. Save on plane fares (we've got 3 tickets to buy) and also give us a bit more time to sort out selling our house. Of course I would love to go as soon as possible...but so many things to sort out before making the big move :)

I Suppose i'm lucky, I don't really have to think about moving. Most of my possessions are already here because i've visited so often over the last 4 years and each time left things behind then brought more over. Everything else that I dont need is at my mum and dads house stored in the loft.
When are you thinking you'll be ready to make the move?

Hi Vietnam Cutieboy:
Your son is automatically Canadian because of you but you need to apply for his citizenship card which acts as proof of it.
I was living abroad in delhi when my children were born and had to do the same for my kids. It took almost 1 yr for their citizenship cards to be issued to them. You apply through the closest cdn embassy in the country where he was born. Forms are online.

You can also apply for a canadian passport for your child before you receive their citizenship card as long as you have started the application process. And as long as their is a need for travel. For instance if your spouse (wife) gets approved for sponsorship and wants to come to canada with your child.

For children they will issue the canadian pp for travel without it if they track down your application showing you have applied already.

When my daughter was born, I applied right away for the card and waited for it... i didnt know i could get a pp for it without the card so I didnt travel back to canada with her til her card came. I was wrong.

When i wanted to go back to canada for good with my children again a second time...i inquired about how to bring my son (we were still waiting for his card to come). Meanwhile my daughter had her citizenship card. I was surprised lol..that i was still able to get him a canadian pp to travel. About 5 mths later we received his citizenship card in the mail. I can try to answer any other Qs you have about the process if you want since I went through it with both of my kids and for us its done now.

I rec'd a letter in the mail yesterday March 12, that they have finished with the initial assesement and no further docs are required and Interview has been waived.
Woot!

On the home stretch now I think.

Wow, Kaz! That's excellent news! Congrats! :) I keep watching for some further news here but.... I'm in Canada, and we don't get mail on Saturdays. Stupid no news weekends. ;) I'm very excited for good news Monday.

I'm trying to figure out the timing from now till passport request......any ideas? are we talking several weeks yet? or before months end? Hubby and I plan on landing about 1-2 weeks after passport comes back.

Kaz

Hmm.... You might want to check Sparkles spreadsheet for the best idea. However, my best guess is that after initial assessment you only have 2-4 more weeks. That's Just a guess from watching other people's timelines. You might also check the November thread. I know they recently posted an update of their timelines, so that might give you an idea.
