Thanks for your reply paddy . I got PPR today and they have given me only 13 days to submit my passport , which is very strange, usually they give 45 to 60 days to submit your passport. I m bit worried abt the deadline and but trying my best to send it asap.
Are you from a visa waiver country? If so you can email them scanned copies. That is what I did. Otherwise you will need to courier your passport to be sure it gets there.

I agree 13 days does seem odd. I had a month to get my copies to them.

They gave me 14 days to get my passport in, I thought it was odd too at the time

From what I understand, the deadlines given for any documentation are tied to the times they set the application for bring-up. So, if the application is scheduled to be looked at again in 15 days or whatever, they give a deadline to match. If a deadline is given of a month, then they aren't going to look at the application again for a month.

The short deadlines now are indicative of them powering through applications quickly. However, there's no need to panic if you can't meet a deadline - just respond to their email and explain that, for whatever reasons, you need an extension.

It's hard to answer this for you s_hassan27 because we don't know what they asked you to do in the letter. The letter should tell you where to send the documents. If they want the documents emailed they would have given you the address to use to send them to. Police checks can't usually be emailed in so I assume they want you to send the original in to their offices. The address for this should be on the bottom of the letter.

Ah, the million dollar question! If I had my way, I would have been there yesterday. However, because we figured we would be waiting a while longer we don't have our possessions on their way yet. So, packing up, selling up, and moving out - and hope to do all that this month.

Hi guys, my girlfriend (Canadian) and I (Aussie) have been tossing up between sending our application to Ottawa or Sydney for a little while now. We're leaning towards Sydney at this stage, and are wondering if there's a spreadsheet or something to show general turnaround times on the Sydney office. Thanks!

Don't even consider doing it inland. Sydney is moving very quickly at the moment and it's highly likely you would have PR through Sydney before the first stage is completed inland. There's people in this thread that have received their confirmation of PR in 3-4 months, most seem to be happening within six months.

The spreadsheet is here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmVlTaJuxc5kdFlsVkRfVFVOTWtCYjVjdU9tR1o2aXc&richtext=true#gid=0

It's not very useful (in my humble opinion) because so many of us haven't had our info added. When looking at the spreadsheet it also pays to keep in mind the fact that for several months of this year visa officers were on strike, which slowed applications down. The posted processing times for applications through Sydney were last updated during the strike. Prior to the strike Sydney had processing times of 8 months. This means 80% of applications were completed within 8 months. I suspect that the next update will show Sydney's times are back to normal or even less.

I hope this helps with your decision-making.

Go through Sydney one hundred percent. They were not affected by strike look at my timeline. As long as your paper work is all complete correctly and you have solid evidence it is quick. I did my medical and paid my right of residency fee before i sent it of to speed it up as well.
