Hi all, my wife is the sponsor and I am the sponsored applicant, I am a Ghanaian and my wife is a white Canadian by birth, I am a resident in China for about 9 years now. our application got to CIC Mississauga on the 9th May, 2016 and we didnt hear anything until July 9th when she called and was told her sponsoship was applied on the 28th of May and an email was sent to her of which she didnt receive. so they suggested posting to her the approval letter, but on the 15th July she received the email from Mississauga confirming the sponsorship aproval and that our file has beed transfer to Accra office for further processing instead of China we applied for, stating due to my nationality and CIC Act. Could anyone please advice me if this is common, as if I am call for interview I would have to travel from China to Ghana which is a very far journey. Also I have two dependent children in Ghana in the aplication I declared thought they are not moving together with me till I settle down with my wife in Canada. Also in the letter they stated we should complete our medical upront and submit the sheets to the Accra visa office directly using the case specific webform and we should attach a copy of the approval letter from Mississauga to the Accra Office. thanks all!

Today is the 9th month we submitted our application to CIC.It has being nine month of loneliness.God have mercy on us and let receive our ppr very soon . :(

When I went to DHL to send my passport, I asked for a return envelope. I posted on June 17th and my application was approved and closed on July 1st. My passport was delivered on July 12th.

Note that I sent an email to AVO asking them for an update and till date I got no response.

Although DHL in Accra might say they don't know prepaid return, insist on it.

Ok , thank you so much for the insight. then did AVO send u an email when it was approved and ready to pick up?

If you included a prepaid return envelope in your package, just wait and your passport will come to your doorstep without any notification from DHL or AVO.

Papapsi can explain better.

Note: it's been observed that prepaid happens only in Ghana. Nigerians in most cases get a pick up mail. Most underlined, I never got any pick up. Had to send a mail to AVO after waiting in vain for PUM.

Congrats on crossing the first hurdle of your sponsorship. The file is usually transferred to the country of citizenship of the PA (not often the case for those from developed countries though). So it is pretty normal for them to send your file to Accra. As you did not do upfront medical, they are asking you to provide medical medical for yourself and dependents (even if they are not accompanying). Please note that you can do your medical anywhere in the world provided the clinic is approved by CIC. The clinic will give you a sheet/receipt which you forward to Accra. So it looks like your kids will do theirs in Accra while you do yours in China. I will advise you put everything together and post to Accra. See the link for panel of physicians choose China for yourself and Ghana for your kids to see which clinics are approved for both countries. Better yet you can go to Ghana and do it together and send the docs/receipts to Accra. All the best!

Thanks Mandie, I did my medical in China and my dependents children did theirs in Ghana so I use the case specific webform to send scan copy to AVO including my dependent children, and also send it my email to the AVO email address. As it was started in the approval letter. I did that last week and haven't heard anything from them yet. Is it a must that I must send the original eMedical information sheet by mail to the AVO? Thanks and waiting for your advice.

As xls said I never got a PUM and that may be because I included a prepaid return envelope as per their instructions. If you're not in Ghana not sure if that will work for you.

Bonne chance!

as you have followed instructions on the letter, you have nothing to worry about. The clinic will send your medical result directly to CIC. So just sit down and relax for our dear AVO to contact you for the next steps.

Thanks very much, but one more question, could the distance of flying all the way from China to Accra be a reason why they could waive interview? worried of the stress and financial involvement of flying the long distance just for interview? thanks again!

Absolutely not. They will only waive interview if they are satisfied that your marriage is genuine and you provided all information needed. So if you provided all documents needed you may not be contacted for an interview. Note that they can request for additional documents regarding ongoing communication between you two (and if they are not satisfied ask you for an interview). I will say relax your next contact with them will probably be for passport request.
