So my buddy today has been told that CIC may have put him in the wrong class? He was accepted by CIC under both FSW and CEC, application submitted April 1st, he finds out today that something has gone wrong? Anyone else heard of this? Will they fast track his app under CEC or screw him?? :'( :'( :'(
It's impossible to be accepted for both FSW and CEC.

I guess he means he is eligible for both?

This could go one of two ways.

If he was accepted to CEC then there's nothing to worry about.

If he was mistakenly accepted to FSW it gets more tricky: if he didn't submit an education certificate then he'll probably find himself cancelled, probably in the next couple of weeks.

The latter happened to myself and a good few others in the first ever draw: we were all accepted to FSW when we were only qualified (or demonstrably qualified) for CEC.

On the 20th February (which will be henceforth known as "the great heart attack") we were all cancelled en mass for a bewildering scary 20 minutes then suddenly invited to another draw this time under CEC.

So buddies , i was hoping some update today..looks like there is none ?? Am i correct?

nothing for me... :(

Hi Esantos, I don't know what CIC said to him, our immigration company that is dealing with our applications rang him yesterday with the news, needless to say he hit the roof! All I know is that this company has submitted another application in case CIC say no, all I can think is that yet again CIC has accepted someone under the FSW program and cancelled it and hopefully will put him in the CEC program without any delay??

my Background check updated, but it updated to "Not Needed at This Time", anyone seen this kind of pattern?

I don't have any source to back me up, but I believe it means your background check is now complete and the final decision is near.
Someone's ECAS changed to "A decision has been made" 4 days after his background check changed back to "Not Needed at This Time".

Good luck!

So just to clear something up, I dint mean he was accepted in both classes, but when you submit your profile to CIC they come back and say your eligible for different classes, mine was CEC, FSW, FST, I think that's what they were. Either way out of the 4 classes, they accepted me for 3 of them.
Getting back to my buddy, I think CIC put him in FSW but didn't ask for any educational paperwork, so I think they have cancelled him. What happens now? Will they move him to CEC like others were?

In our cases we weren't removed as they conceded it was their error. So it really depends what the cancellation letter says. It should, hopefully, explicitly say he was allocated in error and will be eligible for the next draw.

So they don't just change you over, its back to square one? That seems unfair, his application went in April 2nd and all that time waiting was for nothing? Do they fast track it?

For us it was about a week or two after we got ITA so I don't think it made much difference. However it did cause a lot of mixups leading to many of us still waiting for PPR way down the line as we are.

Your friend will hopefully find that his application date stays the same (it did for us) which should hopefully mean it's sorted to the front of any queues I'd you see what I mean. Fingers crossed.
