You can file for a OWP for your spouse even from outside Canada. If you apply for a OPW from within Canada, then your spouse would have to get a tourist visa, then get a visitor's record and then a WP.

What the lawyer is doing is the right approach which will save time and money.
Thanx dear !! Ur response are prompt and I noticed u as the most liked advisor on this forum by every1 !! U must think of having ur youtube channel Live Q&A.

I have applied my work permit application including job offer and supporting letter from NL province and all other required docs to Canadian embassy in Abu Dhabi for work permit since Nov 2019, biometrics done and medical eligibility passed Jan 2020. My question, is there still a chance of rejection or once the province Has provided the supporting Letter and job offer Is attached then all fine?

Technically yes, but it will depend on the final determination of an officer. If everything is in order, then the decision should be in your favour.

@legalfalcon Thank you very much Sir., I have read your explanation about PNP to be processed fast hence it was in 2017., I guess many things have changed already. But last question Sir, as per my agent my eligibility is under process already and considering the current situation probably you think my application will take more time? Abu dhabi visa office is open and processing is 40, currently i’m 38 weeks.

The average processing time for spousal sponsorship visa is 12 months. If your eligibility is passed, then your decision is right around the corner. No one can speculate as to when you will get the decision, should be soon though.

There was not much processing happening in the last 4 months. Also, all non essential travels have been banned and so is the decision on PR and all other applications. There are many PR applicants whose applications have been approved and they have been waiting for the last 2-3 month to get an update on when they can travel.

@legalfalcon - I submitted my application on 9-Nov-19. The Eligibility was recommended pass in Jan-20 and then in March-20, it was passed. However, security has not been initiated till now. I ordered GCMS notes twice, the only difference is Eligibility, changed from recommended pass to passed. Security says not started and there is no s15 or s16 mentioned on my notes. The security activity task has not been assigned to any officer yet.

I called IRCC many times and got the same response. I know few people in the same situation and found out that all our files are assigned to the same agent. All the fields on the notes are same for us.

Is there anything we could do that could trigger the Security? I can see people with later AOR have their security completed.

I got a response thru webform to submit my 14 days ( upon arrival) quarantine plan within a week, you think this is positive news on work permit approval ?
Also I can not acertain about traveling date and quarantine place and date because the airports here are still closed. need your advise please what could be the best response to it ? BC self isolation form needs the details such as traveling date, quarantine place and address. Thank you.

Any progress and movement is a positive news. You have to find if you can travel on any of the repatriation flights and make plans.

Has anyone here succeeded in immigrating to Canada after overstaying in the US? Can you share your experience or what is the procedure of background check from Canada?

US immigration law has nothing to do with Canadian immigration law. If you overstay for 180 days but for less than one year, you will be barred from re-entry to the US for three years. If you stay unlawfully in the US for more than one year, you will be deemed inadmissible and barred from re-entry for 10 years.

However, this does not amount to serious criminality that would make one inadmissible under the Canadian law.

Hello, I applied for work permit under the AIPP program. The background check has started the day I submitted my biometrics, however it's stuck on BC from that day, it's been 6 weeks now.
Eligibility has not started yet.. should I be worried ?

Hi, My GCMS has S26 on page 6 What does really mean? Is it just for the officer?

It refers to section 26 of the Privacy Act, which states:

Information about another individual

26 The head of a government institution may refuse to disclose any personal information requested under subsection 12(1) about an individual other than the individual who made the request, and shall refuse to disclose such information where the disclosure is prohibited under section 8.

If you requested your GCMS notes yourself, and there are other individuals in your application, their information is redacted since you did not submit their consent form.

What is your AoR. Usually BGC comprises of security and criminality. To read more on security, its procedure see https://bit.ly/3afDltc
