Hi legalfalcon, thanks for response.
But my file is stuck at CSIS from Jan 13 as my notes say security screening started by then.

My concern is my case is at CSIS, but CBSA has not start yet
CSIS is way quicker and concludes with 2-3 weeks after the file is received by them. It is CBSA where most of the applications get stuck.

SO will CSIS wait CBSA to finish first? or does CBSA start first?

I don't understand why CSIS say my case is still in progress after 11 months
Usually the trends have been that CSIS finishes and submits it report to IRCC. The files are sent to CBSA and CSIS at the same time. CSIS and CBSA are independent bodies which work independently.

I don’t know how to tell in gcms notes. It says not started for security and criminality but I have read that means they are actually started
If it categorically says not started in GCMS, then it has not. If you are relying purely on MyCIC, then its all speculation.

Hi! I am a PNP Outland applicant with AOR in November. On Dec 6th I passed the medicals and the BGS was moved from NA1 to IP1. At the same time the review of additional documents was changed to "We do not need additional documents." and there is no change in BGS since then.
Does someone have any ideas why it takes so long for moving the BGS from IP1 to NA2? I haven't received any request for additional documents and regularly check my email. According to the tracker, most of the PNP applicants with AOR in November are already in NA2.

Background check Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check.

Hi @legalfalcon ... I need your advice. The security screening for our spouse sponsorship is under process since almost 2 years .. we are really depressed. Everything is passed; only security is pending... no issues are there .. we both have absolutely clean record and travels to Europe and western countries only. What are the chances to get approved soon? What are the chances of approval in this stage? We are really worried :( Thank u ..

BGC does not involve criminality, which is a separate process and solely based on the PCCs you submitted.

For education IRCC relies on ECA, for marriage, the documents an applicant submits.

The most important stage of the process is Eligibility, this is where IRCC checks if the applicant meets all the criteria for the program under which an application is filed.

To read more on the different stages of the EE processing see. -

Dear legalfalcon, thank you so much for your answer!
I am just still a bit unclear what kind of information Canada might request from foreign governments?

It can be anything related to your criminal, personal, employment, financial related work. Since it is not disclosed, it is difficult to find what information is sought.

two years is a long time. Have you considered filing a case of Mandamus? That seems the only logical way ahead.

The SS activities include 4 activities . 3 with no details and one SS with “not started”. Out of experience, do you think that it’s almost done?

Thank You

This has been the trend so far. So if you have 4 activities, and 3 of them are complete, you are almost done.

Hello everyone,

I am posting my progress after a long time here. Today I got my GCMS notes and in it the following: "Information sharing: complete" in the status and I have 4 security related activities. Any idea how long it is going to take now. rest of the details in my signature.

Thanks
