My wife is in Dubai and I am Canada PR. How should I process her application and where should I submit documents (Canada or UAE) for process ??? Please help as I just got married and very confused where to start process from.

Hi,

You will need to submit all the documents in Missisuaga, Canada where they will assess your eligibility to sponsor your spouse (Step 1) and thereafter they will send the documents to Abu Dhabi visa office for processing the application (Step 2).

You can read more about it here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse-apply-how.asp

Lets just hope they have good news for you really soon. I can imagine how difficult it must be for you.

Did they mention in the ADR letter how long it would take to process your application. In some cases, I believe they mention 6 to 12 months.

Were you able to edit the spreadsheet??

yes i hope so too... when you say ADR what exactly do you mean and in which phase of the process are we supposed to receive it? I dun think I received anything/any sort of confirmation from them... the only things I received since my application was submitted are as follows:

- a letter to my wife saying they received the application.

- a second letter to my wife saying that she is approved to sponsor me and that the application has been sent to ADVO for applicant's (my) process.

- and then the only thing we ever got from them was an email threatening/warning me that this was their third warning... and in the past they supposedly sent me two letters requesting for additional information...

now I am not sure what the hell has happened... how come i didn't get anything since I applied till the august 2013?? and whatever I got in august was through an email... so clearly either their postal services are messed up or mine.. and yes, I have checked my postal address from my application and its the right address...

Sparrow19.. They did not even have the courtesy to confirm that they received my package that I sent to them in August 2013 in response to their request... i think they are just too cool to response people... i am not asking them to be super-professional... but at least they can send an email or sumthing of that sort to not keep us hanging? i mean seriously... an email.. just an email with one line would suffice...

ADR is short for Additional Documents Request. They normally request for additional documents if they feel the documents provided are not enough. Can you elaborate what documents they had asked for??

Quite strange that you havent heard from them since August 2013. :o

Just like mine. They asked for ADR last december 9 but i submitted it last week only. I have 3 days left from the 45 days. So now I'm just waiting for the update from them. May i ask if my passport is expiring this june and I'll be renewing it do I need to inform them about the changes? If yes how and where to inform them? :)

Yes, you would need to update CIC regarding the renewed passport. When they send you a PPR and you send them the renewed passport they may not accept it as they have your old passport details on their system.

I did receive the ADR in that case... but only in August... and apparently they did try to get in touch with me but sadly i did not receive anything... the documents they requested were proof that my wife is currently residing in Canada and proof that she is a citizen of canada... another questionnaire form (dun really remember what it was)... and any picture of us after the application was submitted... I sent all of it in 4 days and they never sent me a confirmation...

No worries. Shall I start a new sheet for whoever is active on the thread?

Mine, I sent an email to CIC with the attached copy of my new passport for them to inform but no response of confirmation that they received. Just hoping that they received my new passport copy and update my file.
